Veteran actress, Mumtaz was one of the highest-paid actresses in the 1970s. Though she was quite popular among the male leads of Indian cinema, the lead heroines were never fond of her. Mumtaz, whose name was linked with many leading actors of Bollywood revealed why she was never linked with actor, Jeetendra.
Speaking to the Times of India, Mumtaz revealed that since Jeetendra’s girlfriend, Shoba was very possessive about him, nobody dared to flirt with him. Elaborating on the same, Mumtaz stated:
“Jeetendra ke saath tuning hona mushkil tha. Nobody could flirt with him. His girlfriend Shobha (Jeetendra's wife now) was very possessive about him. She was determined to marry him. But again, as usual, he also was very fond of me.”

Jeetendra had met his wife, Shobha Kapoor when she was only 14. At the time when Jeetendra was struggling to make a mark in Bollywood in the early '60s, Shobha had stood by him throughout his struggling period. It was in 1974 when the two embarked on their journey together, as husband and wife.
Do you know Jeetendra and Shobha were all set to tie the knot on April 13, 1973, but their wedding was called off due to Jeetendra's father’s ill health? But when his marriage with Shobha was called off, his movies also started hitting low at the box office, and on the personal front, Shobha too had gone into depression. But, Jeetendra had promised Shobha that if his next movie would be a hit, he would marry her. His next movie, Bidaai was a blockbuster, and finally, on October 31, 1974, the duo tied the knot.

Talking about Mumtaz’s professional life, Mumtaz made her acting debut at the age of 11. She had become a sensation soon after making her debut with the film, Sone Ki Chidiya. Since then, she has given one after other iconic movies during her film career like Bandhan, Aadmi Aur Insaan, Sachaa Jhutha, Khilona, Tere Mere Sapne, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and many others. Apart from her acting, she was also known for her queen-sized life and sartorial fashion choices.
Throughout her career, Mumtaz has given many hit films and was linked to many of her co-stars. Without marrying any of her co-actors, Mumtaz tied the knot in 1974 with businessman, Mayur Madhvani and the couple is proud parents to two daughters.
Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor are proud parents to Tusshar Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.
