South Indian superstar, Nagarjuna got married to film producer, Dr D. Ramanaidu's daughter, Lakshmi Daggubati, in 1984 in an arranged marriage. After a few years of their wedding, the couple was blessed with a son, Naga Chaitanya. However, soon, troubles crept into their happy paradise, and they got divorced in 1990. After Nagarjuna and Lakshmi parted ways, Chay decided to stay with his dad.
After parting ways with Lakshmi Daggubati, Nagarjuna worked with actress, Amala Mukherjee in some films. They formed a beautiful bond with each other during the shooting of their movies. Soon, their friendship blossomed into love, and after some time, they started dating each other. It was in 1992 that Nagarjuna and Amala decided to tie the knot, and they welcomed a son, Akhil Akkineni, into their lives in 1994.

Akkineni Nagarjuna’s son, Naga Chaitanya, has come a long way in the South Indian film industry and successfully lived up to his family name. He has created a niche for himself with his hit films like Ye Maaya Chesave, Tadakha, Manam, Premam and Bangarraru. Apart from his professional life, he also hits the headlines for his personal life. It is believed that Naga Chaitanya has maintained his distance from his mother and now lives alone. However, the actor has, time and again, denied these baseless rumours.

According to multiple media reports, it is stated that Naga Chaitanya is closer to his father, Nagarjuna, and his stepmother, Amala Akkineni. After her divorce from Nagarjuna, Lakshmi Daggubati tied the knot with Sarath Vijayaraghavan, who is a corporate executive of Sundaram Motors. Channelising her interest in business, Lakshmi started her own company, Lakshmi Interiors. She settled in America with her husband but didn’t leave her son, Naga Chaitanya.
Nagarjuna and Lakshmi made sure that their son, Naga Chaitanya, was not affected by their separation. However, several rumours were rife on the internet that Chay was unhappy with his mother's second marriage and decided to maintain his distance from her. But Naga Chaitanya quashed these rumours and reportedly mentioned that he lives in Hyderabad for his work. He also added that it has nothing to do with his mother as he often visits the latter in America and goes on vacation to other places.
