Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu were once hailed as the most loved couple in the South Indian film industry. However, they parted ways in 2021, ending their four-year marriage just four days before their fourth anniversary. The news of their split shook their entire fanbase, but with time, the two moved on in their personal lives. Recently, a minister, Konda Surekha, made a shocking claim by stating that Samantha and Chaitanya’s divorce happened due to political influence.
Cabinet minister, Konda Surekha, has made a startling allegation, claiming that Samantha and Naga Chaitanya's divorce was influenced by the political party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi's leader, KT Rama Rao. This has reignited the public's interest in the couple's highly publicised separation, and Naga Chaitanya has responded to the minister's outrageous and unfounded accusations. He took to his Instagram account to set the record straight:

"The decision of divorce is easily one of the most painful and unfortunately life decisions one has to make. After a lot of thought a mutual decision was made by me and my former spouse to part ways. It was a decision made in peace owing to our different life goals and in the interest of moving forward with respect and dignity as two mature adults. However they have been various baseless and completely ridiculous gossips on the matter so far. I have remained silent all this while out of the deep respect for my earliest house as well as my family."
Naga Chaitanya further emphasised that the claims made by Konda Surekha are ridiculous and unacceptable. He added that women deserve to be respected and supported, and taking advantage of a personal life event like divorce just for the sake of media attention is shameful. In Naga Chaitanya words:
"Today, the claim by minister Konda Surekha Garu is not only false, it is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Women deserve to be supported and respected. Taking advantage and exploiting the personal life decisions of celebrities for the sake of media headlines is shameful."
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, too, reacted to Konda Sureka Goru's insensitive claims and slammed her for bringing her personal life into politics. She took to her IG handle and shared a statement in which she requested the minister respect an individual's privacy. She also clarified that her divorce was a personal choice and no political influence was involved in it. She further urged the minister to be respectful of an individual's choices.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu's statement opposed trivialising a woman's journey in the glamour world. She emphasised the strength and resilience it takes to work in this industry, survive, fall in love, and fall out of it, yet stand still and continue to fight.

On the other hand, Nagarjuna also slammed Konda Surekha for the remarks she had recently made about Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's divorce. Taking to his X, Nagarjuna vehemently defended Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya, making the audience feel supportive of the couple. He mentioned that Konda Surekha's allegations are utterly untrue and irrelevant. An excerpt from Nagarjuna's statement reads:
"Do not use the personal lives of movie stars, who remain outside of politics, to target your political opponents. Please respect their privacy. As a woman holding a responsible position, your accusations against our family are both irrelevant and false. I urge you to retract your statements immediately."
