Navjot Singh Sidhu Recalls When Everyone Doubted Kapil Sharma, 'People Told Me He Was Over...'

Navjot Singh Sidhu is all set to make his grand appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show (TGIKS), and this news is already making the headlines. This will be his first return to Kapil’s comedy universe that once dominated for six years. After his controversial exit from The Kapil Sharma Show back in 2019, Archana Puran Singh filled his shoes as a permanent member. Fans are already buzzing at Sidhu’s return which will be shown on the upcoming episode of the Netflix show.

Sidhu recalls Kapil Sharma being a genius beyond compare

Navjot Singh Sidhu recently sat for a chat on The Grain Talk Show, reminiscing about his bond with the comedian, Kapil Sharma. An important topic that came up in the discussion was Kapil’s rough patch a few years back when he was dealing with alcoholism and depression. The former cricketer and politician was heard saying:

“When Kapil was not well, he was jittery; he was going through a tough time, and people told me he was over. I said ‘Guys, he’s a 20. If you can even find someone who is a 10 and make him stand in front of Kapil, I will listen. But right now, even a 5 doesn’t exist. You will have to replace him with something better. Otherwise, you will keep missing him.”

Sidhu on the show

Sidhu has seen Kapil from his initial days as a budding comedian and has immense love and respect for how much he has achieved with his comedic genius. Talking about the same, Sidhu said in the interview:

“You don’t have a genius like him. Talent does what it can do, genius does what he must do.”

Sidhu opened up about his abrupt exit from 'The Kapil Sharma Show'

After 6 years of hiatus from the show, Sidhu finally broke his silence about his controversial exit from The Kapil Sharma Show. While rumours swirled about his dismissal due to remarks on the Pulwama attacks, Sidhu hinted at some ‘political reasons’ behind his departure. In the same interview, he shared:

“There were political reasons I don’t want to talk about. There were other reasons… and the bouquet fell apart. I have a wish that that bouquet must get together again, the way it was. I will be the first to facilitate. His show is still doing very well. Kapil is a genius.”

Kapil and Team

Sidhu also expressed his admiration for the original cast of Kapil’s show, whom he referred to as a “bouquet made by God.” He revealed his wish for the reunion of the original team, including iconic characters like ‘Gutthi’ (played by Sunil Grover), ‘Dadi’ (Ali Asgar), and others who have since left the show. However, Sunil Grover later returned to the show and will also be seen in the guise of Sidhu in the upcoming episode.
