Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter, Navya Nanda Naveli has always grabbed the limelight from her markedly different personality and approach to life, as compared to other star kids of her age. Daughter of Shweta Bachchan, Navya has dedicated her life to social welfare and has absolutely kept her life away from stardom and showbiz. Being a social butterfly, she time and again mesmerises audiences with glimpses from her life, and as a result, she is showered with a lot of love and adulation.
In a recent interview with the DNA, Navya Nanda opened up on her privileged background and upbringing. For the unversed, Navya traces her roots from the two big film families of Bollywood, the Bachchans and the Kapoors. Coming back to the interview, the young entrepreneur mentioned that she recognised her privileges quite early in her life and has accepted them wholeheartedly. However, she emphasised that as compared to others who might not have such benefits, she instead has always aimed to put her privileges to good use. In her words:
“Privilege comes in different forms. Privilege, today, could be just sitting with a roof over our head. Some of us are privileged to be coming from the kind of families we come from, or coming from the means we have I recognised that at a very early age. I think the first step to that is acceptance: accepting that you do have advantages and access to certain opportunities that a lot of people would not get. That’s why you get to do the things you do. Then the second step was realising that I am on this mission to change the world and do things. But keeping all of these things to myself is not going to help me achieve that goal.”

In one of her earlier interviews with Josh Talks, Navya Nanda opened up about how she and her brother have been mostly provided with equal upbringing. She revealed that her family has never practised gender binaries between them, and added how they both have been trained to make their own money as well as contribute equally to household chores. Moreover, she also remarked that since she has been encouraged to run her own company, on the other hand, her brother too does not shy away from making tea for the guests at home.
In the same interview, Navya also recalled a valuable learning she received from her grandmother, Jaya Bachchan. She mentioned that it was her nani who had made her realise the importance of the work of a housewife. She also expressed how her grandmother made her believe that a homemaker is no less than a CEO with multitasking abilities.

Navya Nanda had hosted her own podcast show, What The Hell Navya where she, along with her mother, Shweta Bachchan and her grandmother, Jaya Bachchan openly discussed various issues faced by women at large. It was in one of these episodes that Jaya had made a controversial remark where she said that she won't have any problem if her granddaughter, Navya would get pregnant before marriage. While such a comment had made her a target of trolls, it was Navya who had defended her in an interview with NDTV. She had mentioned:
“I think that when you are putting yourself out there, you have to understand that something that you are sharing with the world, your opinions, people may agree, people may disagree, but I think that the purity and motivation behind this podcast have really nice fun intelligent conversations.”
