Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a powerhouse of talent in Bollywood and his expertise in the craft needs no introduction. After kickstarting his career with a few side roles, second leads and antagonistic portrayals, it was in 2010 when he achieved his breakthrough with the film, Peepli Live. Thereafter, he became a part of films like Kahaani, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Bombay Talkies, Badlapur, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Raman Raghav 2.0 and many others. Coming to his personal life, Nawaz reconciled with his estranged wife, Aaliyah Siddiqui after the two of them had a brief period of discord. The couple is blessed with a daughter, Shora and a son, Yani.
In a recent interaction with Film Companion, Nawazuddin Siddiqui made some candid revelations about his daughter, Shora, who is all set to follow her father’s footsteps and make it big in Bollywood. The 14-year-old girl is an aspiring actress and has been seeking rigorous training for the same. Speaking about his little girl, Nawaz revealed how his daughter voluntarily got herself admitted in performing arts, where she quite literally folded her arms before the trainer to learn the craft. The proud father added:
“My daughter is taking training right now. She herself went and got admitted to the performing art faculty, haath jod ke teacher ke saamne she said, ‘I want to learn acting’.”

Moving forth in the conversation, Nawazuddin Siddiqui elaborated in details, about the kind of training schedule his daughter has been undergoing. The actor, who himself had been a veteran of the National School Of Drama, exemplified his keen lookout on Shora’s actual learning. He mentioned that his daughter has to perform in a play at the end of the year, along with making costumes herself, as well as all the setups for the stage. In his words:
“They will be performing a play in the final year, and for that they’ll have to stitch their own costumes, they’ll have to do the carpentry work themselves. Whatever props will be used, they’ll have to make it themselves. They’ll also have to take care of the lighting and at last there will be a show which will be ticketed. This is the kind of rigorous training she is taking. She is doing all of this by herself.”
In the concluding segment of the interaction, Nawazuddin was asked if his daughter ever asked for some advice or tips from him about the field. On the contrary, the actor remarked it to be a case of ghar ki murgi dal barabar for him, as Shora instead wishes to chart her own way. Nawaz mentioned:
“No, ghar ki murgi dal baraabar hoti hai na, waisa hai. She watches a lot of films, watches world cinema. She is 14 and she watches one film every day. She had once performed one piece to show me, I asked her how she did it and she said, ‘Papa, main puri taiyaari kar rahi hoon. Filmein dekhti hoon main. So it's like that, it's her passion, so what can I say?”
