Neena Gupta On Making Comeback With Film, 'Badhaai Ho', Says 'Was Losing Respect As A Housewife'

Bollywood actress, Neena Gupta is known for her strong personality and positive attitude towards life. The actress, who is never afraid of making bold choices in a conservative society like ours, has shaped her life in her own beautiful way. She had made her comeback on the silver screen at the age of 59 ith the film, Badhaai Ho, and had marked the beginning of her second innings as an actor. In a recent interview, Neena talked about what made her re-enter the film industry after her break.

Neena Gupta is a sassy lady, who time and again, has broken stereotypes, without paying heed to societal norms and expectations. From brilliantly raising her daughter, Masaba Gupta as a single mother to marrying a Delhi-based Chartered Accountant, Vivek Mehra at the age of 50, Neena has always been ahead of her times. Despite facing the wrath of trolls, Neena had started her beautiful married life, and they are still going strong to this day.

She shared that she had been working 24/7 before that and had felt the need to enjoy her life and relax. Talking about the same, she said:

“I got married and I thought – ‘let me enjoy married life.’ I was working 24/7 before that and I had no time to enjoy myself, go to a beauty parlour or see a movie or meet people. So, I thought, ‘Chalo maine ab bohot kaam karliya hai. Now, I have found a good guy. Now, I will enjoy my life and relax.'”

Further in the interview, Neena shared that soon she had realised that the people, for whom she had taken the break, were busy with their things. She added that it was then when she had realised how important it was for her to work. Sharing details about the short-lived period of her life, Neena said:

“But what happened was that I realised that jinke liye main ye sab kar rahi hun, they didn’t have time for me. People were always busy with their things. So, I realised that it is wrong and that I have to work because it is the most important thing in everybody’s life. I realised I needed to work. So, I put up that post. And Badhai Ho happened. And I was back."
