Neena Gupta is hailed for being the first single mom in the Hindi film industry. She gave birth to a child out of wedlock with former West Indies cricketer, Vivian Richards, who was already married by then. Now, in a recent interview, the actress revealed how she suffered but enjoyed her journey without seeking any emotional or financial help from him.
She made a comeback to the silver screen in her 50s, and she gained a new generation of audience. In a recent candid conversation with Navbharat Times, Neena Gupta said that she never planned anything in life and just enjoyed every circumstance that life threw onto her. Neena stated that she never wanted to prove bravery in any way, but everything that happened was God’s plan, and she simply never gave up. In her words:
“I did not plan that I will fall in love with a person with whom I cannot live and have a child with him as well. I never planned that I should do something brave. I just faced the situations God gave me.”
In the same conversation, Neena said that she never asked for any emotional or financial help from anyone. She said she could have wasted her life crying and asking others to marry her. But instead, she chose to face challenging situations with a firm foot. She said:
“I never gave up, and stood by my decisions. I never took any financial or emotional help for it. I suffered, endured and also enjoyed all of that. (Jo parishtithiyo ke hisab se mujhe mila usko maine bhugta, saha aur maza bhi kiya.) What else could I do? I could either keep crying, or marry someone pleading 'I want a child'. I could have wasted my life crying. It wasn't my plan to show some act of bravery but I simply accepted and went ahead with whatever God gave me.”
