Finding a partner who not only loves you but stands by you at every situation is what love is all about. Anybody can fall in love with anyone but falling in love with the right person is something that changes your life completely. The phrase “Love is blind” cannot be justified as there are certain things which we always have to take note of while blindly falling in love with someone. In the 80s when extra-marital affair was a taboo and a topic rarely discussed, Neena Gupta, who was always known for her bold choices of films had broken the stereotype and had fallen in love with a married man. After a series of heartbreaks, Neena Gupta had found love in the arms of West Indies cricket team captain, Vivian Richards, who was already a married man then. She was quite vocal about her relationship with him and had given birth to his daughter, Masaba Gupta. Neena, who has always been ahead of her times been a true exemplar of women empowerment and has raised her daughter, Masaba single-handedly.
On March 2, 2020, Neena Gupta took to her Instagram handle and shared a video, where she warned all the women to not fall in love with a married man. She started by talking about some common dialogues one would hear from a man, who is not quite happy in his marriage. And listening to his side of the story, you will fall in love with him and would eventually start spending time with him. She also revealed that you would even have the urge to inform the concerned person’s wife about his extra-marital affair. But things would get complicated as your relationship progress and finally, he would back off from the affair. She signed off by saying, never fall in love with a married man. She even confessed to doing the same mistake and suffered.
Neena, who has brilliantly raised her daughter, the ace fashion designer, Masaba Gupta is an inspiration to all the single mothers. In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Neena had talked about her regret of having a child out of wedlock. She had revealed, “I would not have a child outside marriage. Every child needs both parents. Neena ji was invited at the singing reality show, Indian Idol 11 and was moved by a contestant's performance. During the show, the actress had revealed that it was her father, who stood as a pillar of strength and had helped her raise her daughter as a single mother. She had stated, "My father played a very important role in raising my daughter, he especially shifted to Mumbai to help me. I cannot express how thankful I am to him. He was my backbone during the most crucial time of my life."

Neena Gupta had given an interview to film critic, Rajeev Masand and had spoken candidly about her daughter, Masaba. Commenting on her choice of depriving Masaba of her father and a normal family, Neena Gupta had stated that it was selfish on her part. She was quoted as saying, "Very much. All the time. I feel it was a very selfish act on my part. Some of my friends told me it won’t be fair on part of the child, but kaun sunnta hai uss waqat, blind hotey hain (who listens at that age, people are blind). I also feel sad because she was lonely.
