Despite knowing that they don't have a future together, she had given birth to their daughter, whom she had named, Masaba Gupta. After which, it was in the year 2008, when Neena had married a Delhi-based Chartered Accountant, Vivek Mehra and had started her beautiful married life. Now, in her latest interview, Neena Gupta talked about the prime reason behind her decision of getting married at 50. Scroll down to know it!
In an interview with ETimes, Masaba Masaba actress, Neena Gupta revealed the prime reason behind her decision of getting married at 50 with her husband, Vivek Mehra and how she had broken the news to her daughter, Masaba. The actress said, "Frankly, I didn't have to tell her. Vivek and I were going around for 8/10 years; he used to come down to my house in Mumbai, and I often used to go to Delhi. But yes, precisely speaking, when I told Masaba that I want to get married, she wanted to know why. I told her that marriage is important if you have to live in this society, else you don't get respect." Going further in her interview, Neena Gupta praised her daughter, Masaba for always backing and supporting her in her actions. She said, "Masaba understood me. Masaba is one person who will do anything for her mother's happiness, whether she likes it or not. So, I was not worried. I was feeling a bit awkward in telling her that." When Neena was asked about the reaction to her daughter's broken marriage with her ex-husband, Madhu Mantena, the actress clearly stated, "I was very affected. But I have overcome. I am okay now. Okay toh hona hi padhega na? Kya karungi? Life has to move on. As for the second part of your question, marriages are crumbling because women have started earning."
In an interview with the IANS, Neena Gupta had talked about the toughest and most crucial time of her life, when she was raising her daughter, Masaba Gupta, as a single parent. The actress had recalled that time and had talked about the obstacles she had faced. She had said, "At that time when I got married, I had worked like a dog, especially in television, which was tough for me. Looking after a baby alone and work was very tough for me. So, I said, now I'm married, I will live a comfortable life, I'll go to the parlour, I'll go for a massage, which I never did for many many years, I will cook -- I like cooking -- I will look after (daughter) Masaba, I will give her more time."

In the same interview, Neena had also emphasised on the importance of both the parents in a kid's life. She had retorted, "It was very hard. It was harder than I imagined. I feel it was wrong because a child needs both the parents to be around, and they need quality time. They need a lot of time, and I feel that if I didn't have to earn money, Masaba would have been even better."
