Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in Bollywood. The gorgeousness never leaves a chance to mesmerise her fans with her unparalleled acting skills and her impeccable style statements. She has been making India proud ever since she bagged the title of Miss World in 1994. Moreover, the diva has been attending the prestigious Cannes Film Festival since 2002 and her looks from the event have often brought storms on the internet. However, Aishwarya was criticised for her look at the 56th Cannes Film Festival. Now, popular designer, Neeta Lulla recalled that year and shared some inside details about Aishwarya's look.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Neeta Lulla recalled Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's look from the 56th Cannes Film Festival. Talking about the same, the ace designer revealed that the actress had fractured her foot at that time and she was not keeping well. She shared that Aishwarya's look from the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, especially her neon green saree, was badly criticised by the fashion police. Neeta added that around 47 outfits were sent with Aish for the entire event, however, because of different collaborations, her entire look had to be changed. In her words:
"There were some 47 outfits that went with her for the whole festival. Day wear, afternoon wear, evening wear, red carpet wear. Somewhere, I guess what happened was possibly time, possibly because of different collaborations, jewellery had to be changed. I really don’t know what happened there."

Further, in the same conversation, Neeta shared that she was left disheartened after Aish's look received backlash from other designers and the media. Talking about the same, the designer shared that the actress stood with her and trusted her with for so many looks post that event too. Neeta added that, till date, she doesn't know what went wrong at the event and mentioned that people labelled her as a 'bad designer' without knowing the backstory.
Earlier, in an interview with Rajeev Masand, Aishwarya had opened up about getting criticised for her outfits at the 56th Cannes Film Festival. Talking about the same, the actress shared that she could not understand why there was so much talk about her outfits. She added that she attended the film festival as a jury member and that was a bigger thing. as she was a judge there and that a bigger thing. Elaborating more on it, Aishwarya had said:
"Initially I couldn't understand what the big hullabaloo was about. So, I never expected such a big media moment out of what you were wearing. Because I was really there as a jury member which was so much bigger a purpose and so much more important, so much more exciting and impactful. I was like seriously, is this what you guys are focussing on?"

For the unversed, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the first Indian female actor to be on the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003. For the event, the actress had opted two outfits from the shelves of ace designer, Neeta Lulla. First, she wore a neon green saree with a front pallu and teamed it with a long embroidered blouse. She completed her look with dewy makeup, and statement jewellery. Later, she donned a pink top with an embellished skirt. However, her choice of outfits had not gone down well with people, and she was massively trolled for her look.
