Remember when Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli shared the first pictures from their Tuscany, Itay wedding? Of course, you do! ‘Virushka’ practically sabotaged our feeds and stole our hearts with the picturesque setting of Borgo Finocchieto enveloped in the shades of lavender, rose quartz and power blue. Anushka had walked down the aisle to the tune of ‘Din Shagna Da’ in the most exquisite Sabyasachi lehenga, which made every girl say, ‘shaadi karungi to Anushka wala lehenga pehen ke, warna dulhe ko tata bye bye’! Ace Bollywood singer, Neeti Mohan exchanged wedding vows with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi actor, Nihaar Pandya on February 15, 2019, at The Taj Krishna, Hyderabad. Recently, Neeti and Nihaar shared the first glimpse of their wedding avatars on respective Instagram handles and wrote, “With the blessings of family, friends and well wishers, we are blissfully married. Dad's health is getting better each day. The Mohan and Pandya family THANK YOU for your constant love and support.”
But what caught our attention is Neeti Mohan’s lehenga! If you take a close look at the bride’s lehenga, it will remind you of Anushka Sharma’s wedding lehenga. The same blush pink lehenga repleted with Indian lotus motifs and European-inspired flora and fauna. While we are still not sure who designed Neeti’s bridal lehenga, but what we are sure about is that she is looking breathtakingly beautiful in her wedding avatar (with an uncanny resemblance to Anushka's wedding lehenga).
Sharing the details about Anushka Sharma’s bridal lehenga, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee shared on his Instagram handle, “At Sabyasachi we take the art of couture rather seriously. Our beautiful bridal lehengas are created in the good old fashion principles of dress making. From concept to finish, everything is lovingly created by human hands with skill sets passed down through many generations across many centuries. On Her: A pale blush pink silk lehenga hand-embroidered with Indian lotus motifs merging with European flora and fauna.”
It further stated, “The entire lehenga is meticulously hand-crafted in silk floss and gold and silver ‘tilla’ work. It takes 67 karigars, approximately 32 days to finish this piece of modern heirloom. The look is accessorised with vintage uncut diamond jewellery threaded together with baroque pearls, emeralds, tourmalines and Iranian turquoise beads. Elaborating the details about Anushka Sharma’s exotic bridal jewellery, the designer had earlier shared, “Bridal jewellery handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls by the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection.” Posting the following picture on his social media handle, he had written, “Anushka getting ready for her wedding! In a Sabyasachi uncut diamond and spinel choker, earrings and mathapatti. But we think the hero is the lush Tuscan hydrangeas! There is something so ethereal about brides wearing fresh flowers in their hair! It is a crowning glory!”
In fact, Sabyasachi designed outfits for Sharma and Kohli’s for the wedding ceremonies. Confirming the same, the designer had earlier shared, “We designed the clothes for both bride and groom for all the functions—from the engagement to the mehendi, the sangeet and for the wedding and post wedding dinner and heritage jewellery from recently launched Sabyasachi label.”
In case you missed it, a few months back, Anushka Sharma’s bridal look in the song, Channa Mereya from the film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was recreated by a real-bride, Farhat and with the same makeup and outfit, she had managed to create the spark at her wedding. Just like Anushka, Farhat too, looked gorgeous in the heavily designed choli with the dupatta carried in a long-trail style.
