It was on Simi Garewal’s show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal when Neetu Kapoor had thrown some light on her married life with Rishi Kapoor. She had shared that romance is much more than romantic candlelight dinners and going on dates. For her and her husband, the romance was more about togetherness and nurturing their children together. And that she felt had made her love story with Rishi Kapoor more romantic than Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
It was in the mid-70s, when the Punjabi Kapoor boy and Sikhni girl did Khullam Khulla Pyaar Ka Izhaar, fought against all the odds and had finally embarked on their journey of love, Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 1980. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor made us believe in holding on to love, even when things are not fine in a relationship and be with each other through thick and thin. On April 30, 2020, Rishi Kapoor had taken his last breath after fighting the battle with cancer for two years. In an emotional farewell post, Neetu Kapoor posted a picture of Rishi Kapoor with a drink in his hand and a bright smile on his face. Her caption made us teary-eyed. She wrote, "End of our story."
Neetu Kapoor had posted a family statement on her Instagram handle, revealing how Rishi Kapoor had remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents, with a folding hand emoji as the caption. The statement can be read as "Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. The statement had concluded with “He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears. In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way."

On January 17, 2019, Neetu Kapoor had posted a selfie on her Instagram handle with her beloved husband, Rishi Kapoor, which gave us a glimpse of what happens on a lunch date after 38 years of marriage. Sharing the selfie wherein Rishi ji is busy looking at his phone as his wife clicks a picture, Neetu ji had captioned it, “Lunch date.
