Popular Bengali actress, who had later joined TMC and became MP, Nusrat Jahan has been in the news of late for the reports of troubles in her married life. For quite some time, the reports had suggested that all was not well between Nusrat and her businessman husband, Nikhil Jain’s married life. Suggesting those reports true, the actress-turned-politician had released an official statement.

In her statement, Nusrat had opened up about her separation from her husband, Nikhil and had even called their marriage invalid. For the unversed, Nusrat Jahan and her boyfriend, Nikhil Jain had tied the knot on June 19, 2019, in the Turkish town of Bodrum. Soon, Dar-ul-Uloom, the most prominent seminary of Islamic education in Asia, had issued a fatwa against her for inter-faith marriage.
Well, after the Fatwa, Nusrat and Nikhil had stood for each other and their love, however, now it is clear that the two have parted their ways. We remember their wedding in 2019 in Turkey and their honeymoon in Greece as the couple has posted some love-filled pictures on their IG handles. Now, the TMC MP has removed every picture with her now estranged husband, Nikhil from her IG handle, removing his traces from her social media handles.
On June 9, 2021, Nusrat had released a statement, calling her marriage invalid in India as per the marriage regulation rules of the Turkish government. She had said, "Being on foreign land, as per Turkish Marriage Regulation, the ceremony is invalid. Moreover, since it was an interfaith marriage, it requires validation under Special Marriage Act in India, which did not happen."

Nusrat had further added that according to marriage rules in court also, her wedding with Nikhil isn't a valid one, and their separation had happened a long time ago. She had continued, "As per the court of law, it is not a Marriage, but a relationship or a live-in relationship. Thus, the question of divorce does not arise. Our separation happened long back."
While Nusrat’s statement had shocked the nation, in an interview with India Today, her estranged husband, Nikhil Jain had reacted to her statement, revealing that he has filed for an annulment in Kolkata. Nikhil had stated, “These are legalities, I don't really want to comment on anything she's said because the matter is sub judice in court. I have filed a civil suit in Kolkata and I will not comment on it till it is in court.” The two have been separated since November 2020 as revealed by Nikhil.
According to a report in Hindustan Times Bangla, Nusrat Jahan is reportedly six months pregnant, however, she has neither confirmed nor denied the reports. According to a Bengali news channel, ABP Ananda, Nusrat’s estranged husband, Nikhil is not aware of Nusrat's pregnancy. Nikhil had also added that the child isn't his because they haven't even contacted for months.
