The Padma Awards for the year 2022 were announced on January 25, 2022, and a total of 128 awards were awarded this year. The list included 17 Padma Bhushan, 107 Padma Shri and 4 Padma Vibhushan Awards. In addition, the winners' list also included 13 Posthumous awardees. One such winner is the famous singer, Sonu Nigam, who was awarded Padma Shri for his exceptional work in the Indian music industry in all these years.
There's no denying the fact that Sonu Nigam is a class apart from some of the finest singers of his generation. The singer has already sung in English, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Nepali, Maithili, Malayalam, Tulu, and many other languages in his career spanning more than 20 years.

The popular singer, Sonu Nigam received the fourth-highest civilian award, Padma Shri, for his incredible contribution to the Indian music industry. After receiving the prestigious award, Sonu Nigam remembered his father, Agam Kumar Nigam and his late mother, Shobha Nigam. The elated singer thanked his fans and all the people who had voted for him. In a conversation with ETimes, the actor shared his thoughts and emotions on being honoured with Padma Shri. He said:
"January 25 was a rather special day for me and my family. I'm very thankful to the Government of India for thinking of me as a deserving candidate and bestowing me the Padma Shri. My heartfelt thanks to all those who selected me and suggested my name for this prestigious honour."
Going further in the conversation, Sonu Nigam remembered his late mother, Shobha Nigam and dedicated his award to his mother. The doting son stated that if his mother had been alive today, she would have cried a lot seeing him conferred with Padma Shri. The singer stated that everything he had learned from his wife was because of his parents and especially his mother. Sonu also revealed that his parents had introduced him to music. He stated:
"I would also like to thank my mother, Shobha Nigam, and my father, Agam Kumar Nigam. In fact, I want to dedicate this award to my mother. Had she been here today, she would have cried a lot. I would also take this opportunity to fold my hands before my gurus who have taught me so much. Whatever I know today is because of them and their blessings. Watching and listening to them has been a learning experience for me. My sincere gratitude to my friends and colleagues who have been a part of my journey, and my family who is my pillar of support."

Sonu Nigam's son, Nivaan Nigam, is a 'born singer', and we have witnessed his incredible singing skills through his dearest daddy's IG handle time and again. For instance, on May 4, 2020, Sonu Nigam had taken to his Instagram handle and had shared a video of him performing with his son, Nivaan, in a virtual concert to raise funds for the underprivileged. The father-son duo had won everyone's hearts with their performance, and along with the video of the same, Sonu had written:
