Pankaj Udhas was famously known as the Ghazal maestro and had won millions of hearts with his songs such as Chitthi Aayi hai, Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai Tera and many more. At the age of 72, Pankaj Udhas passed away on February 26, 2024, after suffering from a prolonged illness. However, the family confirmed the sad news on February 26, 2024. The sudden demise of Pankaj Udhas has shaken the nation. 

Pankaj Udhas passed away at the age of 72

The legendary singer, Pankaj Udhas' family, confirmed the shocking news with a press statement shared by his daughter, Nayaab Udhas, on her Instagram handle. For the unversed, Pankaj Udhas was a Padmashri recipient, and he breathed his last on February 26, 2024. The Udhas' family' statement can be read as:

"With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhar on February 26, 2024, due to a prolonged illness."

As soon as the news came out, celebrities expressed their condolences. Sonu Nigam expressed how he has lost a part of his childhood withe sudden demise of Pankaj Udhas. He wrote, "One of the most important part of my childhood, is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti."
