After Bollywood came under the fire of people on the internet for reasons like nepotism, hurting religious sentiments, bad scripts, and whatnot, the regional film industry, especially South India, bloomed. People started hailing the South superstars for their nature and versatile performances. However, now a popular paparazzo clarified that the South stars are not as down-to-earth as their image has been built on social media.
Varinder Chawla, a seasoned paparazzo, sat for an interaction with Hindi Rush and spoke at length about the paparazzi culture in the entertainment industry. He talked about how he started out in the profession and revealed various unheard details about the job. While conversing, one of the hosts asked if South Indian stars are really that humble and, as a photographer, what he thinks about their nature. Answering the question, Varinder said:
“To be honest, I think woh log naklipan karte hai. They act like that only for the camera.”

The paparazzo disclosed that the South stars’ humility is just an act. Citing Vijay Deverakonda as an example, Varinder recalled the time when he was promoting his film, Liger, co-starring, Ananya Panday, wearing chappals. He said that the actor pretended to be humble in front of the camera. Further, the paparazzo shared a recent example, where a South Indian biggie had snapped at his team. Varinder mentioned that they did not upload the video, but other publications did. While he refrained from naming the actor, it was none other than Jr NTR. Talking about the incident, Varinder said:
“There was an actor who would appear in slippers during the promotions of the film to deliberately pretend to be humble in front of the camera. Recently, my team shot a video of a big South star, who is normally very quiet. He was going inside the hotel when he snapped at my team member. I didn’t put it, but the other photographer who had also shot it uploaded it.”

Further recalling such incidents about the South Indian actors, Varinder recalled an event of the film, Major, where the acclaimed actor, Mahesh Babu was also present. The paparazzo revealed that the actor openly stated that Bollywood wouldn’t be able to afford him. He shared his opinion on Mahesh Babu’s statement and said at least, Bollywood stars do not fake humility in front of the camera. In his words:
“He was openly saying we don’t need Bollywood; they can’t afford me. I thought what is this attitude? I do feel woh naklipan zyada hai. They compare Bollywood… but here at least the actors aren’t fake. They are seen how they are, if they are getting angry, that’s public as well.”
Varinder Chawla, in the same conversation, also opened up about the incident in which Ranbir Kapoor snatched away one of his team members' phones. The paparazzo disclosed that the actor had scolded him back then and schooled him for invading his privacy late at night. After the conversation with Varinder, Ranbir even asked him to respect their privacy.
