Kansas City Current co-owner, Brittany Mahomes, spent Mother’s Day at the soccer stadium with Patrick Mahomes and their three children as the Current stayed unbeaten with a dominant win over Chicago Stars FC. The family watched from CPKC Stadium while star forward, Temwa Chawinga scored a first-half hat trick in a 3-0 victory on Sunday. The outing came during a busy week for the Mahomes family after Brittany Mahomes recently opened up about dealing with a painful wrist condition, while Patrick Mahomes continues recovering from knee surgery ahead of the NFL season.
Brittany Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes brought daughters, Sterling Skye and Golden Raye, along with son, Patrick “Bronze” Mahomes III, to cheer for the Kansas City Current during their NWSL matchup against Chicago Stars FC. It turned into a celebration for the home team. Temwa Chawinga, the reigning NWSL MVP, scored three goals in just 27 minutes during the first half and helped Kansas City take complete control of the game early. By the time she left in the 77th minute, the result was already settled.

The Current remained unbeaten with the victory, adding another strong performance to what has already been an impressive season. Brittany Mahomes, who played college soccer before becoming part-owner of the team, has regularly supported the club from the sidelines since the franchise started. The Mother’s Day outing also followed another family moment shared by Brittany Mahomes online. On Saturday, she posted photos from a dinner date with Patrick Mahomes at their Kansas City steakhouse, 1587 Prime. In one Instagram post, she joked about Patrick helping button up the back of her red dress before the couple headed out for the evening.

Earlier in the week, Patrick Mahomes also spent time with son, Bronze at Kauffman Stadium while watching the Kansas City Royals play the Detroit Tigers. The Chiefs quarterback owns a reported one per cent stake in the Royals organisation and has remained closely connected to baseball because of his family background. Patrick Mahomes is the son of former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, who played for teams including the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, and Texas Rangers. He is also the godson of former MLB reliever, LaTroy Hawkins.

The family celebration came only days after Brittany Mahomes shared a personal health update with fans on social media. She revealed that she has been dealing with “Mother’s Wrist,” medically known as De Quervain tenosynovitis, for more than a year. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition affects the tendons near the thumb side of the wrist and can cause pain during lifting or gripping movements. Brittany Mahomes explained that she first thought the pain would go away on its own before finally seeing a doctor after struggling during a workout. “Been battling it for probably around a year now thinking it will just get better,” she wrote in her social media update. The condition is commonly linked to repetitive lifting motions and hormonal changes after childbirth, which many mothers experience while carrying young children.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes is still recovering from knee surgery suffered during the NFL season. Reports this week suggested that his recovery is moving in a positive direction ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2026 campaign. Bleacher Report reporter James Palmer said there is growing belief around the league that Patrick Mahomes could be ready for Week 1, although the Chiefs are expected to stay careful with his recovery timeline. For now, though, the Mahomes family appeared focused on enjoying a relaxed Mother’s Day together while supporting one of Kansas City’s hottest teams.
