Preity Zinta opened up for the first time about her difficult journey to embrace motherhood. The actress shared how her attempt at IVF made her feel before welcoming twins via surrogacy. For the unversed, Preity Zinta is one of the most loved '90s heroine. She is best remembered for her role in the 2000 film, Kya Kehna, wherein she played the role of a young mother, who welcomed her child without marriage. It was a sensitive yet modern topic dealt with utmost care. She had also played a surrogate mom in Chori Chori Chupke Chukpe in 2001.
Recently, in an interview with Vogue, Preity talked for the first time about her struggles with embracing motherhood. The actress is famous for spreading happiness and love. Preity tries not to talk about her happy days. But when the interviewer asked her if she gets pressurised to maintain the sunshine girl image in reality, Preity bared her heart out.
The Veer Zara actress shared how she has good and bad days, just like everyone else. Preity shared that she had her own struggles, and she had also seen tough phases. She further stated that it was during her IVF cycle and she would struggle to stay happy. She said:
"I have good days and bad days just like everyone else. Sometimes it’s a struggle to always be happy-go-lucky in real life, especially when you’re going through a tough phase. I used to feel like that during my IVF cycles."
However, Preity eventually opted for surrogacy and welcomed her twins, Gia and Jai, in November 2021. Coming back to Preity's IVF journey, it wasn't easy. She had turbulent days, and it was difficult to be nice all the time. There were times when she would want to bang her head on the wall and cry. She was quoted as saying:
"It was very difficult to be smiley and nice all the time. Sometimes I just wanted to bang my head on the wall and cry or not talk to anybody. So yes, it has to be a balancing act for all actors.”
Preity Zinta, along with her husband, Gene Goodenough, welcomed their twins in November 2021. The actress shared the news on her IG handle, and expressed gratitude. She also revealed her kids' names and thanked the surrogate for being part of Preity's journey. She wrote:

“A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and to our surrogate for being part of this incredible journey. Loads of love and light – Gene, Preity, Jai & Gia,” she added at the time. The family currently lives in the US. The children often spend time with Priyanka Chopra and her daughter, Malti Marie. Preity had brought the children to India a few months ago."
It was On Mother's Day 2022 , Preity posted the first-ever picture of her twins. In the photo, Preity held her baby girl, Gia while her mother held her son, Jai. Her daughter wore a beautiful pink-coloured floral tutu dress with a matching headband. On the other hand, her son, Jai, looked dapper in a checkered-print shirt.
Alongside it, Preity penned a heartfelt note for her mother. She said she wasn't apprehensive about her mother's worries and care. But now, Preity understands all her mother's concerns. She prayed that her kids understood her better and became sensitive towards her.
