It seems like 2020 and 2021 are years full of controversies and heartbreak for celebrity couples and their fans as well. While couples like Asha Negi and Rithvik Dhanjani, Pooja Gor and Raj Singh Arora broke up after many years of dating each other, we also saw a split between Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal after eight years of marital bliss. Similarly, reports of split between Priyank Sharma and Benafsha Soonawalla were rife for quite some time now.

Priyank Sharma, who had made his acting debut in the daily soap, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, had risen to fame by participating in Spiltsvilla Season 10 and Bigg Boss Season 11. It was on Bigg Boss Season 11 that we had seen his bond with Benafsha Soonawalla grow stronger. Though the duo had claimed to be good friends for quite some time, their PDA on Instagram last year, had made it obvious that they are in a relationship.
However, it seems that they were going through a rough patch in their relationship as reports of their breakup were doing the rounds in the media. In a recent interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, when Priyank was asked about his breakup and cheating on his girlfriend, Benafsha Soonawalla, he refuted the rumours and stated that every relationship has ups and downs. He said, "Things have been fine. Every couple has their ups and downs, I believe. That's a part of the entire relationship."
He further explained that every bad phase can be surpassed depending on how much effort we put into the relationship. He added, "If you are holding yourself very strongly, I believe you can surpass from anything you feel like. Woh tumhare upar hain, kitna effort daal rahe ho (It depends on how much effort you put in)".

Priyank also shared in the same interview that he was approached by a lot of reporters when the rumours of his breakup with Benafsha were rife. However, he was not really willing to allow anyone to cook up stories and that is why he had maintained silence. He said, "But till the time that I am not wanting to announce or maybe not wanting to tell, why to just cook up any kind of story for no reason."
The Puncch Beat actor also explained the reason behind not posting pictures with Benafsha on social media and said, "So that's why me and Ben stopped posting our pictures also. Nazar thodi si lagne lag gayi thi. Humne rok diya (We stopped our relationship from attracting the evil eye)." He further added that sometimes people 'unintentionally' cast an evil eye, so it is preferably better to keep the relationship private.
