Priyanka Chopra Jonas has touched a lot of unheard and unknown aspects of her life in her book, Unfinished. Priyanka Chopra Jonas had first announced the news of writing her memoir in June 2018, and ever since then, her millions of fans were waiting for the same. Yesterday, i.e. on February 9, 2020, their wait was finally over as Unfinished was released.
In her book, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has mentioned why she added Jonas to her name, and it was to honour the tradition carried on by her parents. The actress also shared her reaction when she first saw her post wedlock surname appear in print when she had made her appearance on Barstool Sports’ Chicks In The Office podcast. Priyanka revealed that she was amazed and said, “The first time I saw it, I was like, 'Oh, oh ok, that’s my name now" Speaking of why she added Jonas to her name, the actress shared during her interaction with Just Jared that she wanted to honour her tradition and didn't want to let go of her identity. She was quoted saying, "I inherited a beautiful name and I hope to live up to its legacy."
Priyanka further talked about the prospect of guys taking up their wife's name after marriage in the next 50 years. She added, "And we have to like maybe hopefully in another 50 years, it’ll be guys taking our names too, or just not changing our names, you know, and that’ll be normalised. But I don’t think I was at that place when I got married, I kind of wanted to honour my parents’ tradition and that’s just how it happened." Earlier, in an interview with Anupama Chopra, speaking about her book, Priyanka Chopra Jonas had said that it would include only the things that matter to her in the present. She had said that while she didn't intend to hide things from her readers, she had also wanted to make sure to only talk about things that were 'true to her' present. In her words, "I was honest about things that mattered to me and my journey right now. Which is why I mean that this is a very honest reflection of where I am at the moment. I didn't edit my book in a way that 'this is something I don't want to talk about' or 'this is something I can'. If it is true to me in the moment, it is in the book. If it doesn't matter to me, it is not in the book. It is very honest telling of that tale."

Sharing a video, she had written, "Seeing my book for the first time. Can I be terrified and excited together? #Unfinished. @prhaudio. @penguinindia. @randomhouse. @michaeljbooks. @penguinukbooks."
