Priyanka Chopra is hailed as a Global icon, courtesy of her contribution to Bollywood and Hollywood. In 2015, Priyanka re-started her life from scratch and made a name for herself in International cinema with the show Quantico. She also explored the music scene with songs like 'In My City' and many more. However, Priyanka had a humble start to her journey after she won the Miss World crown in 2000. 

Priyanka Chopra wasn't doing 'namaste in gratitude' after winning Miss World, but rather, it was an attempt to save her falling dress

Priyanka made India proud by bringing the Miss World crown in 2000. Her historic win is etched in the hearts of millions, and a photograph of her when she was seen doing namaste. However, for the first time, Priyanka shared the reason behind the iconic pose. She clarified that it wasn't a namaste in gratitude but rather a desperate attempt to save her falling dress.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Priyanka shared her crowning story and revealed that 24 years ago, she was crowned at the arena, which was called the Millennium Dome back then. The actress revealed that her eighteen-year-old self was experiencing a mix of excitement, nervousness, and competitiveness as she tried to look her best. 

Priyanka further revealed that she still remember the memory of the night when she was balancing her pencil heels with a gorgeous Hemant Trivedi dress that kept falling the entire evening as the body tape wasn't working on her. Priyanka revealed that it happened as she was sweating a lot due to the nervousness. She wrote: 

"A memory I will never forget from November 30th 2000 is the feeling of balancing on pencil heels with a gorgeous Hemant Trivedi dress that was falling off the entire evening because my body tape would not stay on, as I was sweating so much from nerves."

Priyanka further shared that the iconic namaste pose wasn't in gratitude but her way to keep her dress up, and she was able to save herself. She concluded the note by writing:

"Hence, if you google the pictures, after I win, I look like I’m doing a namaste in gratitude, but I’m actually desperately trying to keep my dress up; clearly, I survived, and it was all well at the end. To be back here watching my husband and his brothers perform with my daughter, family and friends is such a full circle. Life has been good. Gratitude."

Priyanka Chopra gave a wrong answer at the Miss World 2000

We stumbled upon an old video that featured Priyanka Chopra's winning answer during the Miss World pageant 2000. It was during the last round when Priyanka was asked, "Who do you think is the most successful woman alive today and why?" Priyanka answered straight from her heart, but it was the wrong one. The actress named Mother Teresa and expressed her love and said:

"There are a lot of people I admire, but one of the most admirable people is Mother Teresa, who has been so compassionate, considerate and kind. She has achieved a lot for herself and for other countries. She gave up everything she ever had to make others life beautiful."
