For those who do not know, Priyanka’s father, Dr Chopra passed away in June 2013. In a 2016 interview with Hindustan Times, Priyanka had talked about her father’s death and was quoted as saying, “His death has been a big blow. I still haven’t dealt with it. I don’t know if I’ve healed, but it doesn’t hurt either. I don’t think I have accepted it. I feel like I’m travelling all over the world, and dad will be home when I return. I think grief becomes your constant companion. You just learn to live with it”.
In an interview with Anupama Chopra, Priyanka had once said, “Losing my father was not just losing my Dad; it was losing a part of me. I don’t know if every daughter is that close to her father as I was. My Dad was my best friend, my idol and my protector. He was the man of my life so I went back to work because that was my only solace and I haven’t stopped since. I don’t think I will”.
In the same interview, when the Quantico star was asked how she dealt with her father’s death, she replied, “I think it’s escapism. I don’t think it’s strength and I think that maybe I should have taken the time to deal with it. I think I wanted to run away from dealing with it and I did. I started work four days later, one – because my Dad hated me sitting at home, and second – I would have lost my mind if I did”.
