Professor Booked For Rape Of Several Students After 2 Years, As An Anonymous Pen Drive Surfaces

Educational institutes are supposed to be sacred and safe spaces for the students. A place where they come to grow their innocent minds. However, some people have turned these sacred temples into a place of atrocious crimes.

Professor sexually abuses his students

A 54-year-old professor from a college in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has been booked for the alleged sexual assault of several of his students. According to a video by Brut India, a single page of an anonymous letter by 'Lachar Beti', along with the video proof of the assault, was sent to senior police officers in Lucknow and Hathras. The same was also shared with the National Commission for Women on March 13, 2025.  

After this, the police issued an arrest warrant for the professor. Rajneesh Kumar worked as a senior professor at the government-funded Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College in Hathras. The video footage showed Rajinish kissing multiple students and touching them inappropriately. The letter read:

"With a deep sense of pain and helplessness I bring to your attention the atrocities being committed by Rajneesh. This man has been sexually exploiting me, and many of my former and current female classmates. On the pretext of providing academic support and promising jobs, he traps girls, forcing them into shameful acts while secretly recording videos. He then uses these clips to exploit them."

As soon as the warrant for the arrest was made, Rajneesh Kumar ran away. However, after 72 hours of being on the run, he was arrested. The police made three teams and searched for him, eventually arresting him on March 19, 2025. What we further found shocking is that the professor was flagged for a similar incident in October 2023, yet it took 59 incidents for the authorities to make an arrest. According to the police, Rajneesh had a problematic married life, which led to him having an affair. However, once, when he was intimate with his affair partner, it got accidentally recorded on his webcam, which further gave him the idea to assault and blackmail his students.

Rajinish Kumar was flagged for sexual abuse in October 2023

While the incident left the country in shock, what is even further alerting is that this was not the first time the students had raised a complaint against him. In October 2023, he was flagged to the college and district administration. However, the complaint was brushed under the carpet. A report by Indian Express further shared how while there were claims that a special committee was formed to probe the matter back in 2023, the current Hathras District Magistrate, Rahul Pandey, stated that he was not aware of any such committee and the matter only came to his knowledge a couple of days ago. He stated:

"We have formed a (new) committee to probe the matter, which includes the Basic Sikhsha Adhikari, the Circle Officer, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and a woman tehsildar."

Rajneesh continued to work with the college and was made the Chief Proctor in 2024, which gave him more power. He had also been heading the college teachers' association since 2023. He abused his positions for well over two years and assaulted 65 students in the name of academic support and promising future jobs, out of which he had shared videos of over 50 of them online.
