No matter what the situation is, there are no second thoughts on that love unexpectedly finds its way somehow. Love in the COVID-19 quarantine and lockdown isn’t easy, as some have to cancel their travel plans with partners, surprise birthday or anniversary planning for their loved ones or postpone their engagement/wedding dates. But no social distancing protocol can create ‘distance’ for the madly-in-love couples, who are finding unique ways to make these stressful times happier. After dating for 9 years, Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna fame co-stars, Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma had exchanged the rings in a grand ceremony in 2017. Finally, after two-and-a-half years, Puja and Kunal had decided to take their relationship to the next level and tie the knot as they had already postponed it enough due to the professional reasons. It was on April 15, 2020, when Puja and Kunal had planned to become each other’s forever and tie the knot as per Bengali rituals. But who would have thought that COVID-19 will ruin our lives to this extent!
Postponing their April wedding plans, Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma delighted their fans with the news of their secret court marriage. Sharing a throwback picture from Durga Puja - Sindoor Khela in 2019, Puja and Kunal announced the news of their registered marriage, which had happened a month-and-a-half ago. Puja and Kunal had written, “This is a pic from last year durga puja sindoor khela. Today was supposed to be our wedding but the situation is such that we have cancelled all our ceremonies although we had registered our marriage before a month so we are officially married and together forever now.”
Revealing that they have decided to donate the amount kept aside for the wedding celebrations to the people, who need it now, Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma continued, “With the blessing of our parents and grandparents we starting our new life need all of your best wishes. Our family is happy and so are we but given circumstances our heart goes out to all the people who are fighting for their lives right now and to all the families who lost their loved ones. Our prayers with all of you and a small contribution from our side as the money we were to spend for our marriage function we are donating to people who are in need now. This is no time to celebrate but we will celebrate with our loved ones once the world becomes a happy place again. In her first post-wedding interview with SpotboyE, Puja Banerjee has revealed the details of her secret court marriage. She has stated, “We had already done a court marriage, one-and-half month back. We hadn't spoken about it to the world. Today, we were supposed to do our wedding rituals but had to call them off due to the lockdown. However, we will consider today (April 15) as our wedding. Aaj bataya na duniya ko!” Sharing why they had announced their court marriage on social media, Puja remarked, “Seeing the condition outside, I really don't think it will be possible to have any party etc at least for the next 6 months from now. Even if the lockdown is lifted, it will take some time for things to return to normalcy. Many of our relatives stay in Kolkata and some are abroad. Hence, we decided okay at least let's announce our shaadi for now.”

How COVID-19 lockdown had ruined everything, and their wedding plans went for a toss, Puja Banerjee was quoted as saying, “Almost everything was ready. Our wedding was supposed to happen in Mumbai itself. We had paid for the venue, decoration, food and shopping was also almost done, but unfortunately this happened. We were very excited for today. Kya kar sakte hain? Bura to kaafi laga, abhi baithkar hum wahin discuss kar rahe the, ki abhi baaraat aane waali thi. Abhi yeh hota, voh hota...”
When asked if they are planning to celebrate this special moment of their lives in a grand way in future, Puja Banerjee had retorted, “We will definitely do something in future. Probably, on our first anniversary, we will plan something big with our family and friends.” Speaking of her family’s absence during the lockdown, Puja had continued, “My parents are unfortunately not here. They had gone to Kolkata for some Puja and couldn’t return. It's now just me, Kunal and his parents in Mumbai. But obviously, they know about our wedding.”
Announcing the news of her wedding with fiancé, Kunal Verma on International Women's Day, Puja Banerjee had shared, “Big news on this women's day I want to share this with all of you @kunalrverma you complete me I have been a daughter, a sister, a friend, a girlfriend and now finally going to be a wife. It’s time to be together forever so are finally getting married.
