It’s so much fascinating, the idea of a love child, isn’t it? Going beyond the stereotypical institution of marriage and having a baby before tying the nuptial knot is not a cake walk, at least in India. But Rock On!! Actor, Purab Kohli has proved otherwise. He surprised everyone when he announced the birth of his daughter, Inaya, his love child. Kohli’s UK-based girlfriend, Lucy Payton gave birth to their little daughter in 2016, 2 years before they got married.
Yes, recently we brought to you that Purab and Lucy got married on February 15, 2018, in Goa. We got our hands on this happy news through the groom’s dear friend, Amrita Puri. She took to her Insta handle, and posted Purab’s wedding avatar, captioning her post, “My Sartaj Singh is hitched! Congratulations to my reel life husband! Wishing you all the love in the world @purab_kohli & Lucy Kohli.”
And now, we’ve some more pictures to deliver to you guys. Ramit Batra, who, it seems was their official wedding photographer shared the beautiful pictures and captioned them as, “Modle, VJ and Actor @purab_kohli is officially hitched to his longtime girlfriend Lucy! Look at these two having a fun evening together! Here’s wishing them a happily ever after!” And here’re those pictures:

And of course, don’t forget to check out these two videos:
After their wedding, when Hindustan Times approached Purab and asked him about his love, love child and marriage, he sweetly responded, “We always wanted to get married, but didn’t want to rush into it. When Inaya was going to come into this world, it was a glorious moment by itself, and we didn’t want to dilute that by suddenly rushing into marriage. We had always planned that we will wait for the right time and the frame of mind, to get settled. But this [wedding] isn’t sudden, as we decided on this date, a year back.”
As mentioned earlier, having a child before marriage is a big thing in India. So, was there any pressure on Purab from the society and his family, Purab says, “No! My parents have always been supportive of my decisions. I understand that the decisions I have made with Lucy have shaken the foundations [of the] institution of marriage, but my family was evolved enough to accept us.”
Purab calls Lucy as ‘media shy’. They first met through Purab’s sister, Rima Kohli. Rima went to the prestigious Johns Hopkins University with Lucy. How was the proposal like? Purab reveals, “Well, we just started talking and sort of went for it. I can’t remember who proposed first, but I did later formally propose to her. Also, we had discussed it before, so it wasn’t a surprise!”
Talking about his wedding, Purab adds, “There was no tradition of any organised sect, and it was our own style. We were dressed in Indian clothes and had genda phools (marigold flowers) as part of the decoration. Nice Punjabi songs being played was the sole bit that brought the ‘Indian-ness’ to the whole ceremony. It was largely Lucy’s doing, and the wedding was structured around ideas that she had for our union.”
Funnily and sweetly enough, Purab revealed that his daughter, Inaya, had the most fun in the wedding. Purab shares, “Most of the things were centred around her- what all she loves, and children, in general. There were around 35-40 children in the wedding. Special areas had been created for the kids. While the ceremony was happening outside, we could hear the song Circle of Life playing inside, because The Lion King happens to be Inaya’s favourite movie!”
And finally, what are the honeymoon plans? Purab says, “I don’t know where we will go, but we have many ideas. We already have a lot of travel planned for this year. We definitely want to go for a holiday, maybe in the first week of April, once our family departs from Goa.”
We wish Purab and Lucy a happy married life.
