Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani's wedding festivities are being talked about around the world. India believes in 'Atithi Devo Bhava,' and the Ambani family proved it by welcoming guests from around the world to their youngest son's wedding. From Anant and Radhika's wedding to the special ceremony of 'Shubh Aashirwad', the world witnessed India's rich heritage and culture. However, it was Radhika's dreamy handpainted lehenga by India's renowned artist, Jayasri Burman that left everyone awestruck.
Recently, in an interview with Money Control, the famous Indian artist Jayasri Burman revealed that she was offered a project to hand paint a lehenga for Ambani's choti bahu, Radhika Merchant, over a Zoom call in June. It was stylist, Rhea Kapoor who connected with her. She had only a month to deliver the marvelous piece.

In fact, it was Radhika's personal request that melted the artist's heart, and she agreed to hand paint a special piece for the young fashionista. Radhika told the artist that she loved her work and that her Jamnagar house had a painting made by her, and it looked good. She cutely requested the artist and said, "Jayasri auntie, I love your work. In my Jamnagar house, your painting is there. It looks so good."
Jayasri agreed, but she told them that it would be a piece of art. She added that she wanted to not hand paint a design on a cloth for Radhika but make a piece of heart and this was her only condition. Recalling the moment, Jayasri said:
"I told them that this should be a piece of art. If I do something for Radhika, if she’s going to wear it, it should be a piece of art. It should not be a design on a cloth."

Radhika Merchant didn't want to wear a green or yellow lehenga because her husband, Anant Ambani, and her Saasu, Nita Ambani, didn't like colour. So, the artist opted for a pink colour because she knew that the Ambani family loves gender-neutral colours. Recalling the bride's words, Jayasri shared, "Anant doesn’t like green, Nita ji doesn’t like yellow, so please choose a different…a very happy colour."
Jayasri didn't want to paint on cloth as it would become hard and brittle. That's when designer duo, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla sent her a good-quality Indian canvas and gave her full liberty. In their South Delhi studio, Jayasri started painting for 16 hours daily for an entire month, and the end result was Radhika's gorgeous lehenga.
Well, Radhika's Shubh Aashirwad was a perfect choice for the prestigious ceremony, and the mesmerising lehenga took a lot of love and art to create. What do you think?
