Anjali Merchant Talks About Balancing Family And Work, 'I Come From A Family Where Relationships...'

Anjali Merchant garnered a lot of limelight during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding festivities. Anjali, Radhika's elder sister, is a successful entrepreneur who has her own venture despite her family business of pharmaceuticals. The young businesswoman recently talked about legacy and how it has been a part of her existence since childhood.

Anjali Merchant on prioritising work along with family responsibilities

In a panel discussion organised by Entrepreneur India, Anjali spoke about an incident from her childhood that made her understand the importance of work. Recalling the same, she stated:

“We were visiting my grandfather in Oman. He was unwell. That's where he lived. My parents actually flew back for a USFDA audit because of how important that audit was.”

In the same interaction, Anjali also spoke about balancing family and work simultaneously. Revealing that her priorities were set right from the time she entered the industry. In her words:

“I come from a family where relationships are paramount. At that time, it shocked me. How can you leave? How can you step away in such a situation? But it also gave me guidance to know what is a priority in this industry. That's not something that you can take lightly. Regulatory compliance, at least in our industry, is extremely important. When I entered the industry, I already had my priorities right. I already had that guidance and that support.”

Who is Anjali Merchant?

Elder daughter of Viren Merchant and Shaila Merchant, Anjali, did her schooling at The Cathedral and John Connon School. She later joined Ecole Mondiale World School. After completing her schooling, Anjali pursued her graduation at Babson College with a BSc degree in Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management. After her graduation, Anjali Merchant pursued her MBA from the London School of Business. 

After a few internships, Anjali Merchant joined her father’s business, Encore Healthcare, in 2012 as a marketing manager. In 2018, Anjali co-founded Dryfix, a chain of hair styling and treatment clubs focused on providing specialised hair services. Dryfix has served many B-town celebs, including Tabu, Jacqueline Fernandez, Alia Bhatt, and others. In 2021, Anjali took the position of director in her family business, Encore Healthcare.

Anjali Merchant is married to Aman Majithia, founder of Vataly India. They have a son named Adi.
