While Rajinikanth was madly in love with the beautiful Sridevi, it is not certain whether she, too, felt the same about him. Once in a throwback interview, K. Balachander revealed that Rajini was so much in love with Sridevi that he decided to go to her house and propose marriage to her.
However, as soon as Rajinikanth and Balachander reached Sridevi’s home during the griha pravesh ceremony, the electricity supply suddenly cut off, and it was all dark. Rajinikanth considered this a bad omen and returned disappointed without saying a word about his marriage proposal.
Keeping his love for Sridevi aside, Rajinikanth continued to share a great friendship with the actress. When Rajinikanth was at the peak of his career, his personal phone number was only with a few people like K. Balachander, Kamal Haasan and Sridevi.
