Rajkummar Rao is one of the outsiders in Bollywood who made it big with his hard work and dedication. The actor's journey to fame and success has been an inspiring one. He is known for his versatility, work ethic, and honest attitude. Rajkummar debuted in the 2010 film, Love Sex Aur Dhokha and has come a long way to his upcoming film, Stree 2. He starred in several popular movies like Stree, Queen, Newton, Shahid, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Badhaai Do and more. In a recent interview, the actor shared his first earnings and how he spent them.
Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are busy with the promotions of their upcoming film, Stree 2. Recently, they graced an episode of Aapka Apna Zakir and shared some details from their professional journey. The two actors were asked how much they earned for their first salary and how they spent it. Shraddha shared that she earned 40 US dollars by working at a coffee shop in America and spent it buying food. However, Rajkummar's reply left everyone surprised.

Rajkummar recalled an emotional story and mentioned earning his first high school salary. He took up the work to teach dance to a 7-year-old girl and earned Rs.300. The Shahid actor added he was glad over it and clearly remembered receiving six notes of Rs.50. In his words:
"I was in high school when I used to go teach dance to a 7-year-old girl at her house. I used to get Rs 300 for training her. The first time when I received my first salary, I think it was six notes of Rs 50."
The actor continued by describing that financial condition at his home wasn't good at that point. So, he was happy to make money and spent it to buy groceries for his house. He used the remaining funds to purchase ghee, which was a luxury to have on rotis. The actor was quoted as saying:
"I was so happy because the financial situation at my house was not good in those days. I used my first salary to buy groceries. And after buying everything, I was left with some money so I bought desi ghee. It was a big deal for us to have ghee on our rotis."
A few months ago, Rajkummar Rao appeared on Ranveer Allabadia's podcast. On the show, he recalled his struggling days in Mumbai when he was studying acting in FTII. Rajkummar shared his mother supported him and sent money to him. There was a time when he had no work and only Rs. 18 in his bank account. So, he survived by skipping lunch or having one Parle Ji and Frooti. He recalled:

"My mother supported me a lot and when I would run out of money, she would arrange it and send. I remember once I was left with only Rs 18 in my account and that too in a city like Mumbai. I used to spend very frugally. We three used to live in one flat and I used to skip lunch and have one Parle Ji and Frooti for lunch. My lunch would cost me Rs 4 at the time. A lot of our seniors and juniors live here. So, you can ring anybody and ask them what are they having for dinner and if you can come."

On the work front, Rajkummar was last seen in the film, Srikanth and Mr and Mrs Mahi. They were released in May. The actor is promoting his upcoming film, Stree 2, co-starring Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, and more. It will all be released on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, 2024. The actor also has a film, Bhul Chuk Maaf, in his kitty.
