Popular actor, Rajkummar Rao is actively promoting his recently-released film, Monica, O My Darling. The film is directed by Vasan Bala, who has previously directed movies like Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota and an episode in the web series, Ray. In the film, Rajkummar will be seen teaming up with actresses like Huma Qureshi and Radhika Apte in the noir drama that is getting a lot of early positive responses.
In a recent conversation with famous comedian, Zakir Khan on Netflix India's YouTube channel, Rajkummar Rao opened up about his journey as an actor in Bollywood so far, his parents, and the recently-released film, Monica, O My Darling.

From revealing how his small role in Anurag Kashyap's film, Gangs of Wasseypur introduced him to the industry to share how, in his upcoming film, he has played a completely different character from his previous films, Rajkummar gave so many insights into his life. However, the actor's revelation about the things that he had bought for his parents from his first salary was truly the best segment of the entire interview. The actor recalled how he had purchased groceries for the home from his first salary when he was in 8th standard. He said:
"I still remember, I used to do Taekwondo. I was a national-level gold medalist. I had also picked dance in between. We had a group and we used to dance on stage. So I started giving dance tuition as well. And I earned money for the first time in the 8th standard. I used to teach a small girl, at her house. And I used to get paid 300 rupees. When I earned my first 300 rupees. I went to buy groceries for the house. And I bought small quantities of everything. Give me half kilos of lentils, give me this and this. And give me rice and sugar. And I gave it at home."
Further in the interview, when Rajkummar Rao was asked to share the kind of satisfaction he had experienced at that time after giving those things to his mother. Answering the same, the actor admitted that it was the best feeling in the world and no matter how much he earns or will earn, he will never be able to live that special moment again. Calling it a great feeling, Rajkummar also urged people to spend as much time as possible with their parents. He stated:
"And that feeling. No matter what you do, how much money you make. That feeling will never come again in my life. That you can give anything to anyone, but those groceries I gave to my mom worth 300 rupees. That was great feeling. While they are here, please spend time with them. It's very important, they don't want anything from you."

For the unversed, Rajkummar Rao's father, Satyapal Yadav was a government employee, and it was in 2016 when his father had passed away. After some years of his passing, in 2019, the actor suffered another major loss after his mother left him for her heavenly abode. Since his parents' demise, time and again, in many of his interviews, Rajkummar Rao shared how nothing could ever fulfil the absence of his parents in his life. However, he admitted that his parents had always told him to keep on acting, as they were happy and proud of him for doing what he loved the most in this world.
On the professional front, Rajkummar Rao's film, Monica, O My Darling, is now streaming on Netflix.
