Actress Rakul Preet Singh’s journey started in the South with the Kannada film, Gilli (2009). Following the film’s success, she returned to college to finish her degree while also pursuing modelling. Rakul then let out a laugh and confessed that she was extremely grateful for her father’s support. However, she preferred to go shopping with her mother. In her words:

“My mom made me see that I am a drama queen who should explore showbiz. She encouraged me to try for Miss India and start modeling. My dad has always been very supportive as well.”
Rakul further elaborated that her parents have been her backbone behind every decision. According to the actress, her parents taught her to keep her head on her shoulders. Not only that, but they would tell her to pack her bags and “come home” any time they felt she was losing her way.
Fans, who only know Rakul Preet Singh as the glam diva she is today, might be surprised to find out that she once used to be a tomboy. For that reason, young Rakul found a lot of comfort in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s ‘Anjali’, who was played by Kajol.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rakul once revealed that her style evolution had been quite similar to that of ‘Anjali’. While everyone she knew was captivated by ‘Tina’, she was always drawn to ‘Anjali’s’ simplicity and carefree attitude. Over the years, Rakul, too, evolved from a tomboy to a “glamorous avatar” like her favourite character.
