Born to Indian freedom fighters, Ayodhyanath Sachdev and Asghari Begum, Tabassum Govil was one of the most loved veteran actress. She won many hearts with her movies in the 40s and 50s. Her real name was Kiran Bala Sachdev, but she decided to be called by her stage name, baby Tabassum.
At the mere age of three, she started acting. And with movies like Bahaar, Nargis, and Deedar, Tabassum ensured that no theatre seat remained empty. Not only this! She also hosted the first-ever television show, Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan, which aired for almost 21 years from 1972 to 1993.

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Tabassum’s son, Hoshang Govil, confirmed the heartbreaking news and said that the actress is no more. He said that Tabassum was absolutely healthy, and they had recently shot for a show and were about to shoot again after ten days. However, she was shifted to a hospital due to a sudden cardiac arrest and left for her heavenly abode on November 18, 2022. In his words:
“She passed away last night around 8.40 PM due to cardiac arrest at a hospital. She was absolutely healthy. We shot for our show 10 days ago. And were about to shoot again next week. It happened all of a sudden.”
Earlier, Tabassum was diagnosed with the deadly virus, COVID-19, and she was admitted to the hospital for 10 long days. However, she had fought back the virus and recovered. But at that time, many rumours about Tabassum having Alzheimer's were doing rounds on the internet. Rubbishing the fake reports, Hoshang had said:
“I am disgusted that people can spread her picture and start a rumour that she has Alzheimer’s. This is absolutely fake. She has got no heart disease, no diabetes.”

For those who don’t know, Tabassum had tied the knot with Vijay Govil, who was the sibling of Ramayana fame, Arun Govil. Apart from being an incredible actress, Tabassum was also a Youtuber, a talk show host and a scriptwriter.
