The entire Hindi film industry has rested its hopes on the shoulders of Ayan Mukerji's upcoming film, Brahmastra, as it is going to be one of the most expensive movies of all time. However, while there are numerous reasons why people are excited about this movie, on the contrary, a section of society opposes this film, like most of the Bollywood films of this year. The '#Boycott Bollywood trend' is real, and after the tremendous failure of Aamir Khan's dream project, Laal Singh Chadha, it should not be taken lightly.
However, it will be interesting to see whether Brahmastra will prove the mettle of its storytelling and VFX or, once again, 'Boycott Bollywood' will make a giant killing at the box office. Well, you can say that the current scenario isn't looking quite impressive for the team Brahmastra. As the film's lead actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, along with Ayan Mukerji, returned from Ujjain without seeking darshan at the Mahakaleshwar temple after a strong protest from Bajrang Dal.

On September 6, 2022, Brahmastra's director, Ayan Mukerji, along with his film's lead actors and couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt visited the famous Hindu temple, Mahakaleshwar, in Ujjain. The trio reached the temple in a white SUV car to seek blessings from God Mahakal. However, it turned out to be quite risky and disappointing for them. The reason behind it was the protest led by Bajrang Dal's leader, Ankit Chaube. The activist stated that he and the Dal members would not allow them to enter the Mahakal temple because Ranbir is a beef eater and had given disheartening remarks about Gau Mata in one of his interviews. In an interaction with the media stationed outside Ujjain temple, Ankit Chaube, the leader of Bajrang Dal stated:
"We are here to protest against Ranbir Kapoor. He has given derogatory comments against Gau Mata. We will intensify the protests and will not allow Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to enter the Temple. Ranbir Kapoor said on camera that eating beef is good. Bajrang Dal will not allow a beef-eater from entering the Temple."
For the unversed, almost 10 years ago, when Ranbir Kapoor was promoting his film, Rockstar. In an interview, he had admitted that he is a beef eater. However, when the interviewer had asked Ranbir about his food choices, he stated that he is a non-vegetarian person and beef is his favourite. Bajrang Dal is now using the interview as the main reason behind igniting the flame of 'Boycott Brahmastra'.

A few weeks back, when Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Ayan Mukerji had visited the iconic Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, a lot of Hindus got offended and voiced their take on the matter. Once again, putting Ranbir's beef statement on the forefront, people condemned the temple authority for allowing Ranbir to enter the temple, despite him being a beef eater. A tweet that had gone viral at that time had explained how it was disrespectful for Hindus to see a beef eater getting blessings from Lord Nandi. The tweet could be read as:
"Beef lover Ranbir Kapoor goes to Kashi Vishwanath temple where Bhagwan Nandi, a sacred bull of the Lord Shiva is worshipped. These kind of people are only fit to go to Dargah."
For the unversed, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer, Brahmastra will hit theatres on September 9, 2022.
