Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood. Despite coming from a family with several successful actors, he established his identity with his applaudworthy performances. Ranbir has delivered several box office hits, and his last film, Animal, was another blockbuster of his career. However, several fans were left disappointed with the portrayal of extreme violence in the film. Recently, Ranbir shared his take on the same.
Recently, Ranbir sat down with entrepreneur, Nikhil Kamath and discussed his personal and professional lives. During the conversation, Ranbir shared his take on the backlash against his last film, Animal. For the unversed, the film came under scrutiny for showcasing misogyny, toxic masculinity, and violence. However, the Rockstar actor feels that the criticism was unnecessary. He was quoted as saying:

"Social media played havoc. They need something to talk about, so they really went to town claiming it was a misogynistic film. What happens is that the hard work that you put in… I know the director had made Kabir Singh, which also faced the same thing, the hard work gets diminished. Because it gets this tag, which isn't true, the perception stayed with this film."

Further, Ranbir said that the majority of people liked the film. But some people say he shouldn't have done the film. He disagrees with them but apologises because he doesn't want to argue with anyone. In his words:
"I quietly apologize and say, 'Sorry, I won't do it next time.' I don't really agree with them, but I am in that phase of my life I don't argue with anyone. If you don't like my work, I will say I am sorry, and I will try harder next time."
Ranbir Kapoor has played versatile roles in his career. He did romantic films and such movies that have social messages within them. He has always been the 'good person' against the wrong. Audiences have admired him in those roles. So, Ranbir was hesitant about whether people would like him in a film like Animal. He said:
"I played the 'good boy' basically, the coming-of-age romantic image that I had. So, I found this very bold, adult-rated. I was scared that maybe the audience would not accept me. When the film was released, even though it did excellent numbers and we got a lot of love, there is a big audience which found the film misogynist and wrong, in some way."
