Who knows our childhood better than our parents? From our obsession with toys to our cribbing over something, they know us and our childhood by heart. Similarly, there is no one better than Neetu Kapoor to recall Ranbir Kapoor’s childhood. Ranbir had entered into our hearts in 2007 when he had made his debut with the film, Saawariya and with each passing movie, he became an idol for the youth, teaching them the true meaning of YOLO.
From “Main udna chahta hoon, daudna chahta hoon, girna bhi chahta hoon bus rukna nahi chahta” to “Life mein sabse bada risk hota hai, risk na lena”, Ranbir Kapoor has inspired millions of his fans to live their life on their own conditions. And today as he turned 39, it surely calls for a celebration. And what better way to celebrate his birthday than recalling his childhood obsessions and memories.

In an interview with the Filmfare, Neetu Kapoor had recalled some of the fondest memories of Ranbir Kapoor’s childhood. Sharing that Ranbir was obsessed with GI Joe toys and then it grew to cars, Neetu Kapoor had said, “For Ranbir it was GI Joe toys. He was obsessed with it. It was in stages, I guess. When he became a little older, he wanted a bike, then a car. Then my husband said no car, because he did not want to spoil the children. Then after so much convincing he finally got the car when he was 18 or 19.”
As late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor never wanted to spoil their kids with choices from an early age, the veteran actress had also recalled the time when Ranbir had to travel in economy class. She had recalled, “And Ranbir poor thing, he was so tall and he had to go to America on these long flights and he had to go in economy, he used to say mom, my legs get numb, I get jammed. The only thing I used to make sure then was to give him an aisle seat. So at least he can stretch his legs.”

Neetu Kapoor had also mentioned how Ranbir always discussed movies with her, which helped them bond better. She had said, “It has bonded us more. We always discussed movies, Ranbir and myself, we discussed actors, we discussed performances, since the beginning. We’ve always had that relationship. That’s our passion. I am a total movie buff. I see the worst movies too. I am that kind of a movie buff.”
Talking about discussing the movies she is offered with Ranbir, Neetu Kapoor had added, “Now I am discussing my roles. Any movie offered to me, I will discuss with him. It’s a better bond now, because now I am discussing myself. Earlier we were discussing other people. But now it is better. He also discusses his films with me when he wants, though he makes his own decisions. But once in a while he also wants my take on the script. So, we have that relationship of movies, scripts, performances and now it’s become even better.”
