Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most talented actors among his generation. Following in the footsteps of his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, he made his debut with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-film, Saawariya in 2007, post which he never looked back on his career. Despite coming from an apparently privileged background, life hasn’t really been a bed of roses for the actor. While on one hand, he struggled a lot to make his name in the film industry, on the other hand, his personal life also witnessed lots of topsy-turvy paths. And in one of his older interviews, Ranbir had talked about one such phase of his life.
Back during the release of his film, Rockstar, Ranbir Kapoor, in an interview with The Big Picture, talked about how he has too frequently witnessed his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh fight with one another. Referring to his on-screen character in the film growing up in a dysfunctional family environment, Ranbir revealed he used to remain awake till late at night as his parents fought, hurled abuses and broke things. He mentioned:

“See, at that time, press didn’t matter, because I was also in the fire zone. I live with my parents. Seeing them going through that phase, I was very much part of it. I was right there. I lived in a bungalow; my parents lived downstairs, I lived on the floor above. I remember sitting on the staircases for four-four hours, from 1 am to 5 am, hearing them fight, break things…”

Continuing the conversation, Ranbir then mentioned how back in the days, press and media quickly used to get whiff of the fights his parents had, and these would immediately become headlines on the internet. Ranbir further mentioned how it became quite difficult for him to attend school after that, since he would be embarrassed and his friends would already know all about it. In his words:
“Everyone goes through it, it’s just that my parents were celebrities, it was out there in the press. It was a little embarrassing in school. Your friends don’t mention it, because they’re good friends, but somewhere there was a sense of, ‘I know what’s happening’. But you deal with it.”
In the concluding segment of the same interview, Ranbir Kapoor highlighted how after a certain point of time, his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh reconciled and stopped fighting. The actor credited that they understood the meaning of love and companionship, which they valued supremely above anything else.

Well, Rishi Kapoor was one such actor, who was infamously labelled for his drinking habit and casanova nature. For the unversed, even after his marriage to Neetu Singh, the actor was known to be engaged into casual flings and one-night stands with other women. Interestingly, Neetu once addressed the matter and even justified her husband’s behaviour. She had said:
“I have caught him flirting hundreds of times. I always seem to be the first to hear about his affairs on outdoor locations. But I know they are just one-night stands. Two years ago, I used to fight with him about it but now I have adopted the attitude-go ahead, let’s see how long will you do it.”
