In addition, Deepika and Ranveer have embraced parenthood as they welcomed their first child together, a daughter, on September 8, 2024. While the entire Bollywood congratulated the couple, an old statement from Deepika's ex, Ranbir Kapoor, went viral, who hoped that Ranveer and Deepika's baby would choose him as their favourite actor.
Deepika and Ranbir were once in a relationship and were expected to have a future together. Karan Johar is known to always bring up some controversial questions on his talk show, and he did the same with Ranbir by broaching the topic of his past with Deepika. He asked the Sanju star if the situation was ever awkward with Ranveer since they both dated the same actress. In his reply, Ranbir didn't heed Karan's indication and clarified that he broke up with Deepika a long time ago, and there isn't anything awkward between them as everyone has moved on.
When Karan Johar asked Ranveer Singh the same question, he declined it. After that, Ranbir Kapoor went on to add that he admires the bond of Ranveer and Deepika as they are perfect for each other. He hoped they would make awesome babies who would like him as an actor. In his words:
"Just the way they are with each other, they complement each other very well. They are in ways perfect to each other's energies and I am really happy for them and I hope that they can see this through and make some really awesome babies together and I hope their babies like me as an actor and that I am their favourite actor."

The good news came on the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi as Deepika and Ranveer visited Siddhivinayak temple to seek the blessings of Ganpati Bappa on September 6, 2024.
