Randeep Hooda is one among the most stellar actors of his generation in Bollywood. Helming from completely outside the film industry, he made his way to the top of the ladder through sheer hard work and dedication. Over so many years of his filmography, Randeep is remembered for essaying some of the most unique and strong characters on-screen. For the unversed, he is all set to make his directorial debut with the biopic titled, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
Randeep Hooda is all set to enthral his audiences once more by bringing to the silver screens, his dream directorial debut film, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. It is a biopic of the famous freedom fighter and politician, Veer Savarkar, and Randeep would be essaying the titular role itself.
Recently, in an interaction with Ranveer Allahabadia, the actor confessed facing a major financial crunch while filming the movie, as a result of which he ended up selling some of the properties that belonged to his father. Elaborating more on the situation, he revealed:
“There were money-related problems. My father had saved up and bought a few properties for me in Bombay (Mumbai), and I let go of them for this film. I spent everything on this film. I felt I could not stop making this film. The kind of support this film should have received, it didn't get."

For those who don’t know, the first visuals and trailer of the film, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has already created a stir amongst the audience, who are simply bowled over with the unbelievable physical transformation Randeep had to go through, in order to perfectly nail the role. Moving further in the conversation, the actor recounted the strict diet and restrictions he had to follow in order to achieve the perfect look. In his words:
“Since this film went on and on, I stayed underweight for a long time. I weighed 60 kgs. I used to only have water, black coffee and green tea. I would survive on it for 20 hours. Then I added chilla, an omelette, dark chocolate, and nuts. I was managing with this much, but then the responsibility of direction came on me. While managing everything, I got weaker and even fell on the set. After that, I went on a fast stimulation diet. I’d eat one spoon of almond butter, one spoon of coconut oil, a couple of nuts in the entire day. That’s it.”

Earlier, in an interaction with The Humans Of Bombay, Randeep Hooda walked down the memory lane and opened up on one of the most difficult moments in his career. The actor recalled how at one point of time, he fell out of work, during which he had no other option than to sell off most of the things in his house. He mentioned:
“11 years out of these three 23 or so odd years I have not been on the set even once a year. Many times I had zero money and I didn't know what I am going to do next. I sold everything in my house, car, microwave and everything but I neve sold my horses. There is an Arabic saying ‘Apni tankha badhao, karcha kam karne se kuch nahi hoga.”

Apart from his unmissable professional successes, it is his personal life that had also garnered considerable attention in the recent past. Well, the actor got hitched last year to his long-time girlfriend and actress, Lin Laishram in Imphal. What stood out as the most special part of their wedding was that Randeep chose to honour his wifey’s cultural roots and their marriage took place following traditional Manipuri rituals.
