Rajiv Kapoor was the younger brother of Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor. He is best known for his performance in the film, Ram Teri Ganga Maili. On February 9, 2021, it was reported that the 58-year-old actor had suffered a major heart attack and was rushed to Inlaks Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Later his brother, Randhir Kapoor had confirmed the same with The Times Of India and had said, “I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him.”

Randhir

In another interview with The Times Of India, Randhir Kapoor talked about how excited Rajiv was for his Bollywood comeback. He revealed that Rajiv was all set to make a comeback with Ashutosh and Sunita Gowariker’s film, Toolsidas Junior. Rajiv was supposed to have a media interaction which was scheduled for February 14, 2021. Randhir Kapoor, who was equally close to Rishi and Rajiv had lost both of them in a span of one year. Randhir Kapoor also stated that he, his wife, Babita, daughter, Karisma Kapoor and a few other members of the Kapoor family had performed a puja on Rajiv’s chautha and had avoided a public gathering because of the on-going pandemic.

In the 1980’s, youngest son of Raj Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor had decided to carry his father’s legacy and had ventured into acting. His early films didn’t do much well and he was cast as the lead in the 1985 social drama, Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Although the film was a blockbuster but couldn’t do much to take off Rajiv’s acting career. But it didn’t deter his spirit and he had gone on to direct Madhuri Dixit starrer Prem Granth, which had failed miserably at the box office. In 2001, Rajiv had gotten married to an architect, Aarti Sabharwal but had gotten divorced two years later. (Also Read: Neha Dhupia Opened Up About How People Judged Her Wedding With Angad Bedi And Said Nasty Things)

Rajiv

Talking about Rajiv Kapoor, the actor had always stayed away from the media. Earlier, in an interview with Cinestaan, the actor had talked about being famous in the younger generation because of his one film. He had said, "To be honest, if I’m remembered today, even amongst the younger generation, that is purely because of Ram Teri Ganga Maili. It gave me great recognition and platform all over the world. It also comes regularly on television. Today, I go to a mall or a theatre, I meet people who talk about the film. It’s fine for people of my generation to talk about it, but I get touched when their children know about the film. Obviously, their parents have told them about this film. Arguably, it’s the best film that I’ve done. I’m grateful to god and my father for having made that film." (Also Read: Bigg Boss 14: Rubina Dilaik's Hubby, Abhinav Shukla Opens Up On Their Divorce And Families' Reaction)
