Bunty Aur Babli, Them A Da Call Him Bunty With A Heart Of Gold, Bunty Oye Oye, Just Like A Beautiful Angel Comin' Outta The Cold, There's Only One Babli And That's For Sure, Bunty Aur Babli, They Are Comin' To Your Town, They Hustle Then, They Hustle Now, Makin' Money All Around, Never Do They Settle Down… 14 years ago, two con artists, Bunty aur Babli had swindled their way into our hearts and even today, we cannot think of a better full-entertainment film than this. No one other than Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan could have done justice to the role of Babli and Bunty and even the thought of this movie without Abhishek or Rani makes it incomplete. But to our disappointment, the sequel of Bunty aur Babli will not have Abhishek Bachchan, and instead the film will reunite the Hum Tum pair, Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan. Yash Raj Films had made an announcement for the second part of Bunty aur Babli (BnB) with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari as the new con artists and as the older BnB, they have roped in Rani and Saif. As much as we are happy to see the Hum Tum pair reuniting on the silver screen, we are sure to miss the OG Bunty, Abhishek in the sequel.
While everyone is wondering why Saif Ali Khan replaced OG Bunty, Abhishek Bachchan in the film, Bunty aur Babli, Rani Mukerji answered the question on the nation’s mind. In an official statement by Rani, which was tweeted by film critic and film trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, she stated, "#Rani’s official statement on #AbhishekBachchan and #BuntyAurBabli2: “#Abhishek and I were both approached by #YRF to reprise our roles as the originals in #BuntyAurBabli2 but, unfortunately, things didn’t work out with him and we will miss him dearly.”"
From Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai to Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji have made our hearts swooned with their charming on-screen chemistry. Our hearts had secretly wished for the on-screen Bunty aur Babli to turn into a real-life couple and even the reports were rife that the duo would settle down as husband and wife. However, things changed and Aishwarya Rai replaced Rani in real-life and became the Bachchan bahu. Though Rani Mukerji and Aishwarya Rai didn’t share the screen space, they were extremely fond of one another and were once B-town BFFs. In a throwback video of the show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, wherein Aishwarya was the guest for the night, and unable to attend the show that day, Rani had sent an adorable video message for her BFF. Calling her ‘Aishu Maa’, Rani had said, “Aishu Maa, you know I love you. I am really sorry I couldn’t come for the show because I am unwell. As you know, I am always unwell, I couldn’t make it to Delhi. Just to let you know that I love you, you mean a lot to me. I just love you Aishu Maa. I just want to say one thing, that we are going to be friends forever. I love you.” Well, here’s the video guys:
Rani Mukerji was upset over the fact that she didn’t get an invite for the wedding from her ‘once favourites’, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Rani had stated, “Only Abhishek can throw light on that. The truth is that if a person chooses not to invite you to their wedding, you realise where you stand with the person. You may be deluded and think you are friends but maybe the friendship was only restricted to being co-stars on the sets."
Rani Mukerji had continued, “It doesn’t matter. It became very clear and evident that we were only co-actors and not friends. Moreover inviting someone to a wedding is a personal choice. Tomorrow when I decide to get married, I will choose the handful of people I want to invite. A lot has been blown out of proportion. Poor guy has been married for many years, we should all move on. I will always have fond memories of working with him." (Also Read: Janhvi Kapoor Is Jumping With Joy As She Welcomes Her Sister, Khushi Kapoor With The Tighest Hug)
