Actress, Rashami Desai has dominated the small screen for years with her talent and versatile performances. She is fondly remembered and loved by fans for her roles in popular shows like Uttaran, Ishq Ka Rang Safed, Dil Se Dil Tak, and Adhuri Kahaani Humaari. However, that's not to say that Rashami's journey in the entertainment industry has been entirely smooth sailing. Sadly, the actress has been subjected to constant trolling and negative comments in relation to her body weight over the years. Recently, she opened up about the same.
Rashami Desai has always set an example throughout her years in the industry. Many of her fans especially admire her for always staying true to herself and flaunting her individuality proudly. In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rashami, who is known for always speaking her mind, talked about how body shaming can affect both women and men. She said:
"Criticism about the body isn't just limited to women but even men. Be it women or men, fat shaming of any form and type isn't cool and shouldn't happen. You never really know the exact reason why someone is of a certain weight. What if they are trying to lose weight but are unable to due to certain complications? It's like adding salt to someone's wound."
Rashami then opened up about her personal experience with fat-shaming. Revealing that she had reached a point in life where she simply didn't care anymore, the actress said:
"People should be more empathetic in nature. Just like anyone else, I too have had my share of judgements regarding my weight and body but I have stopped caring about them. I know what is best for me and what I need to do to engage in that direction. I don't care."
In the same conversation, Rashami spoke about the kind of pressure actresses in the industry felt to keep up with unrealistic beauty standards. While the actress did not condemn the practice of cosmetic surgery, she stated that it wasn't important to know one's limits.
According to Rashami, public figures were constantly subjected to attention and the limelight. So, it was natural for pressure to build up. However, the actress felt that the key is for a mature person to distinguish between what pressure is needed and what isn't. Talking about herself, Rashami revealed:
"While a lot of people have given in to this kind of pressure, I am fortunate to have never given up to such pressure. I feel God has been quite kind with the way I have been made and I am grateful to the universe for the same. I am absolutely and entirely happy with how I appear. I receive a lot of love for the way I am and I only have gratitude for people due to this."
What do you think about Rashami Desai opening up about her experience with fat-shaming and her views that it affects women and men?
