Ravi Shastri Recalls First Meeting With Amrita In An Old Video, Shares How It Became 'Embarrassing'

Amrita Singh, one of the much-loved actresses back in the time, got married to Saif Ali Khan in 1991. After that, their family was completed with the arrival of their two kids, Sara and Ibrahim. However, after several years of togetherness, Saif and Amrita parted ways. Recently, a video of Ravi Shastri made rounds on the discussion platform Reddit, wherein he talked about one of his embarrassing moments. The cricketer said that it was his first meeting with his 'then-girlfriend'. When the interviewer asked, 'Which girlfriend?', Ravi took Amrita Singh's name. Later, Ravi went on to reveal how his first meeting with Amrita became embarrassing for him.

Ravi Shastri revealed that they met at a restaurant in Mumbai, and he couldn't utter even a single word in ten minutes. He mentioned that he knew that he was shy with girls, but he didn't know he could be so shy that he wouldn't be able to say a single word in ten minutes. When the interviewer asked if Amrita kept talking, Ravi agreed and shared that it was the most embarrassing thing that he couldn't say anything. Ravi could be quoted as saying:

"Jab unse pehli baar mila.... yeh ek restaurant mei tha Bombay mai aur jab main pehli baar mila unse toh pehle 10 minute mein maine ek shabd bhi nahi kaaha. Mujhe pata tha ki main ladkiyon se kaafi shy tha lekin itna bhi nahi pata tha ki ekdin aisa ayega ki mujhe chance hi nahi milegi ek shabd bhi kehne ke liye 10 minute. This was my most embarrassing moment."

Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh's relationship

Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh were the much-talked-about couple back in the '80s. The duo was also featured on the cover page of Cine Blitz magazine, which eventually sparked dating murmurs. The couple was reportedly engaged, but they called it quits, as Ravi didn't want the actress to work in the films after their wedding. In one of his interviews, Ravi tagged himself as 'chauvinistic' and mentioned that he didn't want an actress wife, while Amrita reportedly replied that she was way too involved in her career but would be a full-time wife and mother. She reportedly said:

"At the moment I'm too involved in my career to give it up. But I'm sure after a couple of years, I will be ready to become a full-time wife and mother."

After breaking up with Ravi, Amrita was in a relationship with Saif Ali Khan, and they eventually got married. Well, the couple got separated in 2004. On the other hand, Ravi Shastri got married to Ritu back in 1990, and after 22 years of marital bliss, in 2012, the couple separated. It was also reported that Ravi was blown by The Lunchbox fame, Nimrat Kaur’s beauty, and the duo had been dating for a couple of years. Well, later, they dismissed all such claims.
