The critically-acclaimed actress, Renuka Shahane is once again in the headlines after she talked about her marriage with iconic actor, Ashutosh Rana in her recent interview. The renowned actress shared many things that she had learnt from her past experiences and how the divorce chapter transformed her into a new person. Renuka also revealed the kind of impact it had on her expectations about marriage and talked about the reality of married life.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Renuka Shahane talked about her personal life at length. The actress touched upon multiple layers of her life so far. From childhood to her passion for acting and her two marriages, Renuka shared almost everything without any filter. However, when Renuka was asked about her divorce from her first husband and renowned Marathi theatre artist, Vijay Kenkare, the actress gave a beautiful answer as she admitted that they were ‘two nice individuals’ but weren’t good husband-wife to each other. She said:
"Yes, of course (the divorce did impact her), because one wants it to work also and one wanted to get married early also for that same reason. It didn’t work and we were two very nice individuals but unfortunately as husband and wife, it didn’t work out. So the best possible thing to do is to part amicably and to look at it as an experience that one has learned from."

For the unversed, Vijay Kenkare is a renowned actor in Marathi cinema. However, he has also worked in the Hindi film industry in movies like Hawa Hawaee, Gola Berij, and many more. The actor was also seen in the recent hit film, Monica, O My Darling! The actor is known for his versatility and acting range as he has done films of almost all genres so far in his career.
In the same interview, Renuka Shahane also opened up about the way the picture in her mind about marriage had changed drastically after her divorce from Vijay Kenkare. The actress admitted that by the time she was done with her first marriage, she had understood the fact that marriage is not entirely rosy. Talking more about the kind of expectations she had from her second marriage, Renuka admitted that she was prepared enough to tackle the ups and downs of a marriage. The actress got married to Ashutosh Rana on May 25, 2001, at the age of 35. Sharing her thoughts about the same, Renuka said:
"I think that I have gained immensely from that experience because after a very long gap when I fell in love with Ashutosh Rana, my picture of marriage was definitely not rosy. So it was much more realistic. I was able to handle a lot of ups and downs much more easily and also because I was mature by then. By the time I got married, I was 34 or 35, so that’s quite an age to get married in India."

For the uninitiated, Renuka Shahane was earlier married to a renowned Marathi theatre artist, Vijay Kenkare. After some years of marriage, cracks started appearing in their not-so-happy married life. As a result, the couple got divorced after some years of their wedding. The actress remained single for a long time before losing her heart to Ashutosh Rana when they were working in the film, Jayate. After dating each other for some time, Ashutosh and Renuka took the plunge on May 25, 2001. The couple is blessed with two sons, Shauryaman Rana and Satyendra Rana.
On the professional front, Renuka Shahane was last seen in the film, Govinda Naam Mera.
