Ranbir Kapoor is among the most prominent names in the Hindi film industry. He started his career in showbiz as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali while filming Black, and then he debuted as an actor with SLB's Saawariya. Recently, Imtiaz Ali sat for an interview on Mid-Day's Sit with Hit List with journalist, Mayank Shekhar. Therein, the duo discussed how Rishi Kapoor was super proud of Ranbir Kapoor's performance in Rockstar.
Ranbir Kapoor is undoubtedly one of the most acclaimed actors of recent times, and he has swooned all his fans over the years with his astonishing acting prowess. From his debut film, Ranbir's acting skills have been praised by viewers, but Rishi Kapoor applauded his son after watching Imtiaz Ali's directorial, Rockstar. The movie was not only a commercial success, but to date, people are willing to pay and go to the theatres to watch it on screen, which is why it was re-released in theatres.

Mayank shared that after the movie was released, he wrote a review about the film. After the article was published, Rishi Kapoor called him thrice and shared that he had read the review and he was very proud of his son's performance in the film. Rishi Kapoor was so excited that he said, ‘Beta toh mera hai,' and for the first time, publicly praised Ranbir and gushed about him.
While promoting his movie, Animal in Hyderabad, Ranbir Kapoor walked down the memory lane and recalled about his bond with his father, Rishi Kapoor. He shared that although he has a lot of love and respect for his father, Rishi, there has never been any friendly bond between them. The actor shared that the reason behind the same was Rishi's busy routine. Ranbir further stated that it was his only regret, a sentiment that resonates with many who have experienced similar circumstances. He also added that for a child who lost his/her father, the only regret they have is not being able to spend enough time with them.

On his stint on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Ranbir Kapoor recalled how his father once thrashed him. The actor mentioned that it was when he was 8-9 years old, when, during Diwali, he stepped into the RK studio's mandir with his slippers on. He revealed that as his father Rishi was religious, he couldn't tolerate the same and beat the Animal actor. On the same show, Ranbir said that Neetu Kapoor used to beat him with hangers.
