Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s love story is known to all, and everyone is eagerly waiting for them to tie the knot. There are often reports about their wedding, and even a slight movement in their or their families’ life creates a headline. From Ranbir’s new house having a wall dedicated for Alia to Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahani preparing for their wedding, every other day a new story about their wedding hits the headlines. Just like millions of their fans, Ranbir’s father, late Rishi Kapoor too had dreams about his son’s wedding.
If we look at the timeline of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s relationship, she had confessed her crush on the actor on the chat show, Koffee With Karan. It was her honest plea that we believe, had made the universe do its magic. Alia and Ranbir had started working on the film, Brahmastra together, and gradually Ishq wala love happened between them. It was at Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand S Ahuja’s wedding reception that they had walked hand-in-hand, making their relationship official. Alia has become a part of the Kapoor Family and we are eagerly waiting for the shaadi ki shehnaais to play for them.

In a conversation with The Quint, Ranbir Kapoor’s mother, Neetu Kapoor opened up on her husband, late Rishi Kapoor’s most cherished dreams. Sharing how he wanted to see Ranbir as a dulha and on a ghodi, Neetu said, “One was to see Ranbir wearing a turban with an emerald and a broach in the Peshawari tradition – astride a ghodi, on his wedding day. He was totally sentimental about this, he’d keep saying, “Kisi din, mujhe humaare bete ko ghodi pe sawaar dekhna hai.”
Neetu Kapoor also revealed Rishi Kapoor’s second wish, which was to see the Krishna Raj house redeveloped and structured. He wanted the Krishna Raj house to have three different apartments for Riddhima, Ranbir and them. She also added that the late actor used to visit the site every day to supervise it before the pandemic.

For the unversed, Ranbir Kapoor never had a very close bond with his late father, Rishi Kapoor. In 2017, when Rishi ji had launched his biography, Khullam Khulla, Ranbir, had expressed his desire to be friendlier with his dad. He had written, “I am closer to my mother. I feel that Dad modeled his relationship with me on the one he shared with his own father. And it is true that I have never crossed a certain line with him. But there is no sense of loss or vacuum here. I do wish sometimes that I could be friendlier with him or even spend more time with him."
Ranbir had also penned his love for his father. He had written, “I love my father dearly and have immense respect for him. I'm inspired by him and never want to let him down. I know he has only my best interests at heart. He also takes care of the financial side of my work. So we are more connected now. His confidence in me and my work makes me take pride in it. I persevere that much harder because of this. His belief and his encouragement are important to me."
Rishi Kapoor had breathed his last on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67, after his cancer had relapsed.
