Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh are two of the most sought-after couples in Bollywood. The couple got married nine years after dating in 2012, and they are parents to two adorable boys. After so many years of being together, they still give us a couple of goals. However, not many know that Riteish Deshmukh had to touch his wife, Genelia's feet eight times as a part of a ritual during their Maharashtrian wedding.
Once, Genelia and Riteish appeared on Super Dancer Chapter 4 for a 'shaadi special' episode. During one of the contestants' performances on Maahi Ve, Genelia was left emotional and told the contestant that she reminded her of her own wedding with Riteish.
Genelia shared a unique ritual about her wedding. She shared that during one of the rituals of her wedding, Riteish had to touch her feet eight times as part of a tradition, which was admirable during their traditional Maharashtrian wedding. It also challenged the patriarchal norms.
Genelia further shared that modern weddings are more like a party. She thanked god for getting a chance to attend a traditional wedding. She revealed that during vidaai she was left emotional.
In Maharashtrian weddings, it is a ritual, people slam men for voluntarily touching their wife's feet. Earlier, Vikrant Massey faced a lot of hate for touching his wife, Sheetal's feet during the Karwa Chauth ceremony. During an interview, Vikrant shared that it did affect him when the hate comments reached him through his wife, Sheetal. However, he felt a bit sad as he is sensitive in these matters, but he is trying his best not to let it affect him.

However, not only Vikrant, Bhojpuri actor, Ravi Kishan once revealed that he touches his wife's feet daily. The Bhojpuri megastar clearly stated that he touches his wife's feet and even his daughters, whom he considers Laxmi in his life. But he does it while they are sleeping as they would not allow him. He even accepted that in 2013, he touched his wife's feet on Karwa Chauth. He added that he worships women and wants to be born as a woman in his next life.
Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh first met each other on the sets of Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003. After nine years of dating each other, they got married. Soon, Genelia's family completed with the arrival of kids, Riaan and Rahyl. The couple has often collaborated on multiple projects, the most recent one being Ved.
