Speaking about the wedding vows earlier, Rubina shared in an interview, "I am feeling neither nervousness nor excitement, as the preparations for the wedding and my ongoing TV show shoot schedules have left me numb (laughs). Coordinating things is very difficult. I have hardly slept for four to five hours a day in the last one-and-a-half months. Abhinav and I have decided to exchange seven vows after the traditional wedding. I have written mine and I hope he has too.” (Also Read: Significance Of Saat Pheras Or Seven Vows In An Indian Marriage)
She further added, “We have kept them secret from each other. Those vows are a new addition to our wedding and I can’t wait for that moment. Abhinav and I will surprise each other. We believe in Indian traditions and have always wanted the whole nine yards, including all the rituals and functions. I am not focusing on the buzz yet. I understand that as both of us are public figures, anything and everything we do is talked about. But we also try to keep our personal lives as low profile as possible.”

The wedding festivities kicked off with a mehendi ceremony on June 19, followed by sangeet and engagement being held on June 20. For the sangeet function, the bride made it momentous for her groom by giving an emotional touch to the ceremony. Since Rubina hails from Shimla, she crooned a special song, written and composed by her.
The bride Rubina looked resplendent in an ivory coloured lehenga having floral embroidery on it, and she accentuated her attire with polki, pearls and laakh jewellery. And the icing on the cake was her unique chooda, kalire and the veil. She made her entry grooving on a pahadi song as well as a famous Punjabi track, Laung Gawacha. On the other hand, the groom looked handsome in a mint green asymmetrical sherwani with minimalistic zari work which he paired with the pastel pink Jodhpur pants and safa. Abhinav completed his look with a beige-coloured turban with a sehera.
Amongst many pictures and video that went viral on the social media, one that will surely melt your heart is of Abhinav putting sindoor on Rubina’s maang. Rubina and Abhinav’s wedding has made netizens go crazy over the frequent updates, and we couldn’t help but gush about how perfect they looked. Speaking about the same, Rubina shared with the Times Of India, “It took me four months to create the song, Teriya Mohabbataein, which is a Hindi and Punjabi mix. It’s my gift to Abhinav, as I wanted to dedicate him something in his mother tongue. Everybody expected me to dance, but I wanted to do something unexpected. I made an audio-visual representation of our relationship, sang the song, recorded it and played it. It was like a musical skit, which was enacted by my friends. That was the highlight of the evening.”
Dilaik family organised a live band with authentic instruments that were almost a 100-year-old, for the ceremonies. Rubina’s family also had a special pahadi performance. Abhinav was quoted about the same, “The Dilaiks impressed us with their warmth and hospitality. The song that Rubina dedicated to me is the best gift I have ever received. Rubina’s mom gave me an outdoor watch, which I was planning to buy since a long time. My mother gave Rubina some traditional jewellery, which she has inherited.” (Also Read: From 'Sindoor' And 'Bindi' To 'Lehenga', What Makes 'Red' So Deeply Connected To Indian Weddings)
Abhinav and Rubina took leaves for their big day and will get back to work soon after the wedding. The honeymoon will happen later for them as they haven’t finalised a destination yet. Abhinav stated, “We have to get back to our shoots (Abhinav is seen on 'Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka' and Rubina in 'Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki'), so honeymoon will happen later.”
We wish Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla loads of happiness and love as they begin with a new journey of their lives.
