Popular TV actress, Rubina Dilaik opened up about being scammed when she purchased her first home in Mumbai and lost a heavy price. The actress, in a recent podcast with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, revealed how she lost everything to the guy she trusted. Rubin revealed shocking details related to how the guy who promised her the flat went missing for three years.
In Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast, Rubina shared about her traumatic experience when she decided to buy a house in Mumbai. She had never invested anything in Mumbai for the past 10 years. However, when Rubina bought her first home, it fell into the wrong hands. The actress recalled:
"Within less than 90 days I was supposed to shift in the house. The guy where the money was invested went absconding. It took me 3 years to find and bring the money back but that never came back. I lost that house, the money and everything."
After falling into the scam, Rubina picked up her life and worked hard. She was never brand-conscious and believed that one would get good wages in the industry with sheer effort. She shared that it was not like she didn't wish to have luxurious bags, cars and all. Almost 10 years ago, she used to have a close-knit group of friends, and all of them would keep asking if she was buying expensive brands, solitaires, and so on. The Chotii Bahu actress revealed she would refuse, and her friends used to say that when one takes a branded bag to the producer's office, then your aura gets set, and your branding happens. However, Rubina said:
"If my worth is decided on what bag I carry and what car I drive then I think it is the wrong industry for me. I have gone through the darkest phase in my life. I have gone through extreme lows. I have been out of work for around two years. I have gone through depression, anxiety, all sufferings a teenager can go through making wrong choices. When I look back, those failures became a learning lesson for me."
She broke the stereotype of people wanting to have a perception that if you have more money, you can carry a luxurious bag and also have high maintenance.
Rubina, going ahead in the interview, shared that she honestly learnt how to invest after Abhinav came into her life. Before that, she confessed of spending money and not saving up a single penny. She studied thoroughly where to invest and what to invest. During 2008 and 2010 her first show was her claim to fame with Chotti Bahu. She had earned a lot of money, but she didn't save a single penny as she was spending it here and there.
