However, the actress’ departure was surrounded by controversy as she revealed that she had no idea she was being replaced. A Filmibeat report quoted sources close to the show as saying that Alisha was replaced because the makers were not satisfied with her performance in the emotional scenes. Nevertheless, the makers’ decision not to tell Alisha about the replacement remains controversial. Alisha took to her Instagram story to express her shock at finding out the news, as she had no idea things weren’t going well. Alisha added that although she couldn’t explain why she had been replaced, she was still grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. She also thanked her fans for the love they showered on her.
Anupamaa producer, Rajan Shahi has a history of removing lead actors from shows. In fact, he has even admitted to doing this while tactfully avoiding the mention of any names. Rajan once confirmed that he had removed the fourth lead star from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He alleged that their disrespectful behaviour towards the hairdresser, spot dada, makeup man and associate director was unacceptable. Later, he admitted to removing an actor from Anupamaa but avoided naming the person. It is worth noting that Rajan did not address Alisha Parveen’s removal from the show or provide a reason for the same.
